Where Does Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Fit in the Star Wars Timeline and What That Means for Cameos

In case you missed the news, EA announced Star Wars Jedi: Survivor — the highly anticipated sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. While we still have plenty to learn about the title, EA and Respawn Entertainment did, in the very least, provide some brief story details; enough to reveal exactly when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes place on the Star Wars timeline.

When Does Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Take Place and How Does it Fit in the Star Wars Timeline?

From the information we learned in Fallen Order, we know that this title took place five years after the execution of Order 66, which took place in 19BBY. This means that Fallen Order was set during 14BBY.

With the information at hand that Jedi Survivor is taking place five years after the events of Fallen Order, we can conclude that Jedi Survivor takes place during 9BBY.

What’s the Significance of 9BBY During the Star Wars Timeline?

Looking at Wookieepedia, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot happening during this year in the Star Wars universe, at least not yet. The Disney Plus show, Obi-Wan Kenobi, which premiered this last week, is set during the year 9BBY. So details as to what is happening in the Star Wars universe are currently being filled by the show, and with its focus around the Inquisitors and their hunt for Obi-Wan, it’ll be interesting to see how these events tie-into those of Jedi: Survivor. This brings up another interesting thought, will there be any potential crossovers, and if so who?

Who Can Cameo in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

While nothing is confirmed at this time, it was revealed recently by Ewan McGregor (the actor who plays Obi-Wan) that both the story of the show and the game have to “match up” meaning certain events and facts in the game, movie, and show can’t happen and not match up to each other later. It doesn’t outright confirm a cameo, but it does at least tell us how tied up the stories will be in maintaining continuity.

With that said, let’s explore some possibilities.

Looking at the original Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, there weren’t a whole lot of character cameos outside of the big ones like Darth Vader, and a younger Saw Gerrera (Rogue One). Obi-Wan did a sort of cameo, but it was just his voice from a recording. Other characters came from either the comics, or the Clone War animated series, but in terms of movie characters only, that was basically it. Not at all surprising to be honest, since most of the known movie characters were either killed during Order 66, or were extremely young where a cameo probably wouldn’t have made a whole lot of sense. And while an additional five years doesn’t seem like a whole lot, this does give Jedi: Survivor a better opportunity to feature some iconic characters.

For starters, Obi-Wan could very well make a cameo should we find Cal ever visiting the sandy planet of Tatooine, and it works the opposite way too, since Cal is modeled after the actor (Cameron Monaghan) who voices him. That was likely not a coincidence at the time either, as it does make it possible for the actor to portray Cal in a live-action adaptation, and the same can be said for Obi-Wan making an appearance in the game. Of course that’s speculation, but with the Inquisitors on the hunt for both of them, I wouldn’t rule that out of the realms of possibility just yet.

And speaking of the Inquisitors, there’s a very good possibility we will see some of them crossing over between both the show and the game. Specifically, the Grand Inquisitor. We don’t want to spoil anything that happened on the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, since it’s new and all, but given the events that occur during the first two episodes, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Grand Inquisitor makes an appearance to some capacity in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Then there’s Han Solo and Chewbacca. The Solo movie (still canon as far as we are aware) takes place just a year before Jedi: Survivor. He has the Millenium Falcon, and while we don’t expect him to have a major role if he and Chewbacca do make cameos, it could make for a nice one at that.

Looking at another big Jedi who recently made their live action debut in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka is another possibility. At this time in canon she, like Obi-Wan, is attempting to maintain a low profile and hide from the Empire. We don’t expect major involvement from her as she becomes a major character roughly four years later when she helps with the rise of the Rebels.

Finally, the last character we think could potentially cameo in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: Boba Fett. He makes for a very good candidate, if not one of the more likely ones to show up. At this time he is roughly the same age as Han Solo, but in the 10 years leading into A New Hope, he had garnered a reputation of being one of the deadliest bounty hunters in the galaxy. It would make sense that he may have come under Darth Vader’s employment at some point before A New Hope, potentially hunting down Jedi as part of his quest for revenge. It was after all, a Jedi that killed his father, and what better way to earn the deadliest bounty title than hunting down some of the Empire’s biggest enemies?

There are tons of other Star Wars characters that can make a cameo in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but we figured we list some of the big names that most movie and show viewers may recognize. Of course that doesn’t mean any of these will make a cameo, and maybe that’s for the best as the game shouldn’t try to ride on nostalgia, at least in my opinion. Still, a young Boba Fett could be awesome to see.

If there is a character you would like to see cameo, let us know, or if you prefer none, tell us why in the comments below.

Bruh, why does nobody remember that Yoda is still alive and well both for this game and the Obi Wan series. Obi Wan even knows where he is. All I want to know anyway is will there be more ponchos?
