Xbox April Update Launches This Week, Adds New Search Experience and Active Hours

xbox april update

Xbox is getting another system update this April, featuring an improved search function and adjustable active hours for power saving. The Xbox April update is set to roll out “this week” with the newly announced features.

The updated Xbox search experience includes a brand-new look, more visible “gallery-style” results, and other options, including one to “search on YouTube” if you’re looking for a video instead of a game. You can also use RB/LB to browse the different categories and filter your search results even further.

Users can now adjust power settings and active hours for their Xbox consoles whenever they’d like following the April update, too. The setting is accessible by heading to Settings > General > Power options, and you can either toggle the carbon aware updates by selecting Shutdown or choose a set of active hours by selecting the Sleep option. The “carbon aware” updates, for those unfamiliar, are a new type of update that aims to conserve overall power usage of your Xbox console by only updating games and apps during hours when carbon emissions are lower.

With both features looking to arrive on Xbox consoles this week, users should have an easier time browsing content and letting their devices run without much supervision.

Once the firmware update is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
