XDefiant Melee Bug Plaguing Players, Will Be Fixed in Next Patch; Here’s a Workaround
It seems there’s a major bug affecting players in XDefiant the past few days, and it’s one that literally makes the game unplayable. Multiple players have reported on the XDefiant melee bug, and Ubisoft has confirmed that it won’t be fixed until the next patch is released.
Over on Twitter and Reddit, gamers have posted about this issue and it seems to have escalated more when Team Deathmatch mode was released yesterday.
Here are some of the reports that surfaced recently:
Mid match my controls stop working.

Executive Producer Mark Rubin confirmed on Twitter/X that this bug will be fixed in the next patch dropping sometime “early next week.”
That one is getting fixed in the patch we mentioned today. Probably early next week.

While it sucks that players need to wait days until this is fixed, there is a workaround for it that can be applied now.
Here’s what players need to do in order to fix this XDefiant melee bug that stops the controller from being recognized by the game (via babbum): This is caused by meleeing near time of death or right at the time of death. When it happens you can fix it by rebinding melee and then go die, you’ll have full function back. It sucks but it’s the best we’ve got until it gets patched (they know about it and are going to patch it)
Hopefully, that does the trick for those affected. While there is no set date for the patch yet, we are expecting it to drop this coming Tuesday, June 25. Once it’s live, we’ll be sure to let our readers know about it. Test the fix/workaround now, and if it works, leave a comment below and let us know.
