The next major update for Zenless Zone Zero is almost upon us. HoYoverse revealed today that Zenless Zone Zero update 1.4 is coming in a few weeks, and it’s loaded with content. Here’s a breakdown of all the major features and content arriving with update 1.4.
New Agents, Hollow Zero Updates, PS5 Pro Support, and Much More Is Coming to Zenless Zone Zero on December 18
First up, Zenless Zone Zero update 1.4, or as it’s officially called, “A Storm of Falling Stars,” will mark the beginning of Chapter 5. As with previous chapters, you can expect plenty of new story and side commissions, along with some brand-new agents, such as Hoshimi Miyabi (Frost Anomaly agent) and Asaba Harumasa (Electric Attack Agent). Those saving up Encrypted Master Tapes will be glad to know that Asaba Harumasa, an S-rank Agent, will be given away for free!

The new chapter will also introduce two new locations, Port Elpis and Reverb Arena.

Moving on, we have a major Hollow Zero update coming in 1.4 that will introduce a new mode that sees players venture off into the Lost Void, battling it out against some dangerous Ethereals. Completing missions in this new mode will grant your traditional rewards and a new A-level Brawlerboo.
One of the biggest changes and features coming with this update is the newly revamped TV Mode. 1.4 will introduce a new experience that is available through the prologue, up to Chapter 3, which will allow players to experience the game from a more traditional exploration viewpoint. That means that if you aren’t a fan of TV Mode, you’ll now have the option to switch to this new mode, which has been described as “narrative stages.” You’ll still control Eous, but it will be in 3D environments like combat is now.
And finally, PS5 Pro support. That’s right, Zenless Zone Zero is getting PS5 Pro, and it’s quite the support as it’ll add ray-tracing, VRR, HDR, and improved lighting and rendering. Here’s what was detailed on the PS Blog.
“To deliver stunning visuals, version 1.4 of Zenless Zone Zero introduces exciting engine features, particularly ray tracing, newly optimized specifically for the PS5 Pro. The PS5 Pro version resolves reflection issues for off-screen objects and enhances indirect highlights for significant improvements in reflections on mirrors, water surfaces, puddles, and other metallic or glossy materials. We’ve also improved the rendering of strong light in darker areas, the real-time response to indirect diffuse lighting, and added occlusion effects between objects. Along with support for HDR and VRR, the graphics now offer higher rendering precision and enhanced tessellation, making your journey through New Eridu even more immersive.”
Of course, there will be a lot more included in this update that isn’t listed here, but in terms of highlights, these are the biggest included in the 1.4 update. And judging from this sneak peak, 1.4 seems to be shaping up to be one of, if not the biggest, updates for Zenless Zone Zero since its launch, and it’ll all be available for free starting December 18.
