Arknights: Endfield hit 2026 with a bang, kicking off the year with a semi-open-world 3D action role-playing game. After appearing at Gamescom in 2025, Endfield returned in 2026 with a much larger presence, taking over two booths and giving fans plenty of reasons to stop by. The expanded space combined hands-on gameplay, photo opportunities, interactive activities, and one of the event’s biggest attractions: a live boss speedrun challenge.

The booth was easy to spot. Massive installations, panoramic LED screens, sound effects, and boss sculptures helped recreate Talos-II’s atmosphere. The setup was designed to make visitors feel like they were stepping into Endfield’s world.

We were also invited to demo Arknights: Endfield update version 1.5, dubbed “Dreamscape of Wind and Snow”. The latest version features a new character, Typhoeus, an archer who will pierce the sky, and a new story to unfold. Let’s get into it.

The Main Attraction

The Arknights staff worked hard to bring us two large booths: one main attraction where fans can compete to see who can take down three unique bosses in the fastest time, earn a place in the top three, and receive a medal (bronze, silver, and gold). The stage features three large TVs streaming each player-chosen team and their battle against the epic bosses.

Across from the main stage, sculptures of bosses you encounter in the world of Endfield are displayed as a large centerpiece. Both booths have photo spots and allow cosplayers to show off costumes of their favorite in-game characters.

For visitors looking for something more interactive, giveaway stations offered another reason to explore the booth. One station featured a factory assembly line of boxes, similar to what you see in-game. The others were, of course, the merch booth, gaming section, and photo area.

The gaming section is where anyone could play Arknights: Endfield and experience the world itself; whether you are new, current, or returning, there is a lot to do in the game. There are goodies to earn and merch; it also won the best booth award, so you can see the team went all out to make it the best experience for attendees.

Dreamscape of Wind and Snow

For those who do not know or need a refresher, players take on the role of the Endministrator on Talos-II, leading squads of Operators while managing automated production systems and expanding their operations.

Endfield uses real-time combat that requires attention to positioning, timing, abilities, and your squad’s actions. Switching between characters and coordinating attacks gives encounters a more active rhythm, especially against stronger enemies. You can use certain team combo skills that deal elemental damage, making it easier to stagger enemies and deal extra damage.

The demo featured Version 1.5: Dreamscape of Wind and Snow, which expands the world with new story content and Operators. The update introduces Typhoeus, an icefield huntress from the original Arknights, who arrives on Talos-II seeking stories about Sami legends. Her journey takes her into the Snowy Forest outside Yinglung Pass, where an enchanted fog traps her alongside the Endministrator and Chief Engineer Andre. The story eventually leads to Gloomwald’s Rage, a new regional boss.

During the game, navigate a foggy maze, using Typhoeus’s new skill ability (different from scanning) to reach the right location and see the extensive new map showcased in the demo. You will learn more about her and her role as you progress. Typhoeus also brings a unique combat style. As a Nature Striker, she uses a large bow and can leap into the air, attack multiple targets, and evade ground-based attacks. Her Barrage Array can slow enemies and set them up for concentrated Nature Burst damage.

Later in the update, players can explore Suiming, a city trapped in a repeating 15-minute time loop. Rising and falling tides reveal new paths and allow players to collect parts needed to repair the Waking Bell. Purrchena can also be recruited for free through her Tribute Event, where the Physical Defender provides shields, healing, and team support.

Beyond the main story, Version 1.5 adds several activities, including Trial of the Bow, Chubby Lung Attacks, Runners’ Steeplechase, and new Echoes of War seasons. A quick look at these activities shows that Trial of the Bow focuses on ranged combat, giving players a chance to test their timing and accuracy, while Echoes of War offers repeatable encounters that put your Operators and team builds to the test. Plenty to do and lots of rewards to earn while we wait for Arknights: Endfield’s next huge update.

Overall, Dreamscape of Wind and Snow may be a smaller update, but it builds nicely on what Endfield already has. With a new story, characters, exploration areas, and side activities, there is enough here to keep players exploring Talos-II and experimenting with different team compositions. So go forth, Endmin, and lead us to victory.
