Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Update 1.030 Adds Ray Tracing, Casual Difficulty Mode

Capcom has released the first post-launch update for remastered zombie game, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. The file download is live now on all platforms, and will show up as Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster update 1.030. Players can expect a new Casual difficulty mode, alongside bug fixes.

Xbox Series X | S / PlayStation®5 / Steam

New features and balance fixes

  • Added a “Casual” difficulty.
    This difficulty is recommended for players who have problems with action games. Frank also levels up faster.
    You can select this difficulty when starting a New Game, or by going to Options > Game Settings on the Main Menu.
    The default difficulty can be accessed by selecting “Normal.”
    Note: The selected difficulty has no effect on your Challenges/Trophies/Achievements.
  • Added “العربية” (Arabic) to the Display Language settings under Options > Language.
  • Adjusted the frequency and accuracy of the gunfire by Special Forces.
  • You can now save your data to any save slot when Frank dies in ∞ MODE.
  • Fixed the controller settings under Options > Controls (for all platforms) and key bindings (for Steam only) so that, if there is any overlap in the configuration, the overlapping functions are clearly displayed.

Various bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug preventing Frank from targeting the nearest enemy when attacking with certain items.
  • Fixed a bug preventing the Real Mega Buster and the Bowling Ball from being used by holding down the button when using the Classic control type.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally preventing survivors from moving to a specified goal marker.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing survivors to behave erratically after taking damage.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing zombies to appear in lower numbers.
  • Fixed a bug causing fewer than intended visual variations of zombies to appear.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing zombies to spawn that cannot be hit.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing defeated zombies to reappear immediately.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing zombie corpses to make sliding movements.
  • Fixed a bug preventing Special Forces from moving correctly to specific locations.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing Special Forces to behave erratically after taking damage.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing the prisoners to reappear after being defeated when Frank moves between areas.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing Kent to move out of the area during the “Photo Challenge” Scoop.
  • Fixed a bug causing the icon for “Book [Camera 2]” to show up as the icon for “Book [Camera 1]” in the item slot.
  • Fixed a bug causing the headlights of cars to be on during daytime as well.
  • Fixed a bug causing the headlight effect of motorcycles to remain after they break.
  • Fixed a bug allowing Frank to destroy books placed around the environment.
  • Fixed a bug preventing Frank from picking up certain items in ∞ MODE.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing the visual effect of attacking an enemy to keep recurring, resulting in a crash.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing a crash when moving to a different area from Leisure Park if there is a helicopter present.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing a crash when moving from Wonderland Plaza to Paradise Plaza while escorting survivors.
  • Fixed a bug causing a crash when throwing a queen wasp with the Aim Assist Type set to “Snap.”
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing a crash if the game is left on the Pause Menu for a long time.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing a crash when returning to the Main Menu from the Pause Menu.
  • Fixed a bug preventing Frank from being controllable after taking damage with specific timing.
  • Fixed a bug causing the drop rate for item boxes to be higher than intended when defeating a zombie on the 8th day or later in ∞ MODE.
  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing Frank to remove parts of his outfit when putting on a new outfit part in specific locations.
  • Fixed a bug causing Frank’s footprints to face the wrong direction in certain areas.
  • Fixed a bug causing the name of an undiscovered survivor to display as the name of another survivor under Notebook > Survivors when using save data from a 2nd or later playthrough.
  • Fixed a bug causing the location where some outfits can be found to be displayed incorrectly at the Closet in the Security Room.
  • Fixed typos in several languages.
  • Various other minor bug fixes.

Xbox Series X | S

  • Fixed a bug occasionally causing a crash if Frank keeps defeating zombies within the same area.

PlayStation®5 Pro

  • Added “Ray Tracing” to Options > Graphics.
    This option allows you to enable Ray Tracing for more realistic reflections on glass and water surfaces.

Steam

  • Fixed a bug causing lag when driving vehicles if the Frame Rate setting under Options > Graphics is set to “Variable.”

While Capcom has yet to publish the official release notes, players will be greeted with the following message on the start screen:

  • “Casual” difficulty has been added. – On Casual, combat is easier and you’ll level up faster.
    You can change your difficulty by going to OPTIONS → GAME SETTINGS on the Main Menu, or when starting a New Game as well. You can keep using the current difficulty by selecting “Normal.”
  • Arabic has been added to the text languages.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes have been made.
  • PS5 Pro – New settings have been added to the Graphics category under Options: Ray Tracing. Toggle Ray Tracing on or off.

No itemized list of the bug fixes are available as of the moment, but we’re hoping this includes various gameplay-specific issues.

If you’re on the fence about the game, go read our review where we state, “if you liked whacking zombies with random step ladders, or setting up amusing photos of them with cones on their heads, then picking up a copy of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster would be a fun time.”
