DOOM: The Dark Ages New Update 1.008 Released on August 18
Developer id Software has released a new minor update for DOOM: The Dark Ages, which players will see as version 1.008 (ver. 01.008.000), and this is a small download out now on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (we can’t verify if it’s out on PC).
Given the unannounced roll out, don’t expect this patch to include any new features or content, especially since we got the “Ripatorium” update two weeks ago that introduced a host of new content and improvements.

UPDATE: Bethesda has released the official changelog, and yes, the bugged trophies/achievements are still not fixed. THe fixes for today’s minor update include:
- Fix for 1-frame jitter that can be caused by resolution scaling
- Fix for VRS (Variable Rate Shading) setting not changing when applying defaults
ORIGINAL STORY:
Clocking in at 299 MB on PS5 and 616 MB on Xbox Series X|S, the developers have remained mum on today’s patch so far, with the most recent fix deployed a few days ago. There is the chance that this enemy AI fix was released first on PC, and it’s just today getting applied on consoles.
Per Bethesda, a “small tunable update” to the Chaingnner enemy AI made the following changes:
- Increased cooldown between burst fire attacks
- Shortened duration of burst fire attacks
This patch doesn’t seem to have fixed the Melee Expert and Berserker trophies/achievements, at least from what we know. However, there might be a workaround to trigger those — at least on PC.
Per Steam user Bilbo Fraggins, replaying the Siege Part 1 chapter will make these achievements/trophies pop (provided you meet the corresponding criteria, of course). Give that a try and it might work.
If id Software releases any official changelog today, we’ll update the article with the info. Just temper expectations given this is a minor update after all.
