Update: Complete patch notes have been added for patch 1.3 by Remedy:

General

  • Added the “Surviving the Workplace” series introductory video explaining the premise of the game.

    • Localized subtitles are missing from the video; they will be added in a later patch.

  • Updated PS5 Cloud Streaming to the latest version

  • Fixed the outdated descriptions for “What a Day” and “OSHA Compliant” Achievements/Trophies to actually describe what players have to do.

  • Fixed an issue with “Veteran” and “Firebreaker” Achievements/Trophies, which prevented them from unlocking.

  • Improved the in-game notification messaging for when maintenance happens.

    • Previously, players only received the maintenance message if they were in the main menu. Now, if you are playing a match and go back into the main menu, the message will be resurfaced to you, so you don’t miss it.

Network

  • Various fixes and performance improvements for backend and online services.

  • Improved backend connection stability so that players disconnecting from a match happens less frequently. (Error codes 22001 and 22002)

  • When backend maintenance happens, players can now finish the Job they are currently playing instead of being disconnected from the game.  (This one needs a bit more time in the oven.)

Economy Changes

  • Perks economy rebalanced.

Balancing

  • Swivel Cannon (Fix Kit Improvised Device) now has 3200 health (up from 1000).

    • As the cannon does splash damage, it damages itself when shooting nearby enemies and was destroying itself too often. This change should make it more durable and allow it to make a few more shots at close range before being destroyed.

  • Improved enemy behavior

    • Enemies rush less into areas their compatriots got killed in making enemy behavior a bit more exciting.

Audio

  • Updated the idle sounds of all Corrupted Items to make them more identifiable and easier for players to pinpoint by sound.

User Interface and HUD

  • The exact number of Lost Assets and Research Samples that the player is carrying are now displayed in the HUD during a Job.

  • Added tutorials for the secondary function of each Crisis Kit Tool (activates when the Tool is level 2 or 3).

  • Added the player’s Reputation Level indicator to the bottom of the Research menu.

  • Added visual notification to the Main Menu when players have new items or Perks that they can unlock in the Requisition or Research menu.

    • Also added visual notifications to new items in the Requisition menu and Perks in Research menus that the players can afford to unlock.

  • Fixed an issue where turning off the camera shake from the menu didn’t actually turn it off.

Gameplay & Performance

  • Fixed an issue where the Vacuum Perk didn’t pick up Research Samples.

  • Fixed a crash which could happen when the Night Terrors Perk is activated.

Visuals and Rendering

  • Fixed an issue where the Lost Asset and Research Sample visual highlight only disappeared for the player picking them up and remained visible for other players.

  • Fixed an issue where the “Jasper Post Box” Corrupted Item could spawn inside other objects.

Original Story:

Changes to Perk Economy

Perks are a central part of FBC: Firebreak’s Crisis Kit system. They let you specialize, adapt, and experiment with different combat strategies.

We’re updating the Perk economy in the 1.3 patch to make progression smoother, more rewarding, and better paced. The goal is to help players reach their builds faster, experiment more freely, and make more meaningful choices with their Crisis Kits.

We’re taking a moment to break down how perks work and what’s changing in our next patch to make the system even more rewarding and flexible.

What Are Perks?

Perks are passive abilities that twist or enhance your gameplay in ways both strategic and surprising. Want to give every bullet a small chance to deal electric damage? Go for it. Prefer the ability to “shake off” conditions like fire or radiation by jumping up and down? That’s in the toolbox, too…and yes, we know, we need to do a better job in telling you things like this are possible in our game.

Right now, there are nearly 50 unique Perks available in the game for you to experiment with.

Unlocking and Upgrading

To get access to more Perks, you’ll need to raise your Firebreaker Rank. That’s your overall career progression and it’s visible in the main menu below your character.

Once unlocked, you can buy and upgrade perks using two currencies gained from playing the Jobs:

  • Lost Assets (your general upgrade currency, which you can find during Jobs from Shelters and around the level. They have a yellow glow around them)

  • Research Samples (a job-specific currency found in Jobs where Corruption is turned on. The Corrupted Items drop these once neutralized, but you can also find them around the level in rare quantities)

Each Perk can be upgraded from level I (basic effect), to level II (stronger effect), and up to level III (strongest effect that also radiates to nearby allies through the Resonance System).

Resonance: Teamwork Makes You Stronger

The Resonance System allows fully upgraded Perks (level III) to benefit nearby teammates. This means that by sticking close to your squad, you can tap into each other’s loadouts, whether you’re the one with the boost or simply standing near someone who is.

It’s our way of closing the gap between seasoned players and newer Firebreakers. Just being part of a team gives you a leg up.

Also worth noting: your personal Resonance Shield, which protects you from damage, only recharges when you’re near at least one teammate and recharges even faster when you’re close to both.

Building Your Loadout

As you level up your Crisis Kits, you unlock more Perk Slots – up to nine in total. How you fill those is entirely up to you. We have noticed there’s a lot of confusion about upgrading a perk in the Research menu, and then ensuring it is active in your Loadout.

  • A level I perk takes one slot

  • A level II perk takes two slots

  • A level III perk takes three slots

That means you can run three maxed-out Perks and share the effects with your teammates or mix it up with nine different level I Perks for variety. You can always choose to equip a Perk at a lower level, saving slots for something else. It’s a flexible system that rewards creativity and experimentation.

What’s Changing Soon?

Some Perk sets will become cheaper across all levels, while others will go up in cost.

The overall time to unlock everything will remain about the same, but you’ll gain access to the resonance system across a wider range of perks much earlier.

Heads-up: If you’ve had your eye on any high-level Perks, now might be a good time to unlock them before the new prices go into effect.

We will be sure to update this post if proper patch notes for FBC: Firebreak are released later today.
