Ghost of Yotei Update 2.002

Yesterday, Sucker Punch Productions released a major 30 GB update that brought the game to version 2.0, and this is for the game’s Complete Edition content drop set for October 1.

That same day, the studio released a follow-up patch, but the studio hasn’t commented on what it does. Today, the developers released yet another patch, which players will see as Ghost of Yotei update 2.002, and it seems this was rolled out to actually remove stuff.

Confused? Read on.

Ghost of Yotei’s New Update 2.002 Pushed Out, So Players Won’t See What’s Available on October 1

While Sucker Punch hasn’t said anything about today’s patch, we do know that trophies and even the new features incoming for base game owners on October 1 is already in the game. While gamers can’t play the content that’s included in the Complete Edition just yet, it is there and can even be seen in the in-game map and world.

One of the new areas set to be introduced is the Ashoro Foothills, which is a new location featured in the Echoes of Sekigahara narrative expansion included in the Complete Edition. With today’s patch, its outline was removed from the map and from the game too. Before this patch, players could see the area even if they couldn’t access it.

Check out a bird’s-eye view of the Ashoro Foothills area below, which was captured using a Photo Mode glitch before today’s update was rolled out (via ):

Of course, the trophies tied to the Complete Edition are still available, though it seems anything connected to the new content has been pulled.

For reference, check out the content that will be included in the Complete Edition, as well as the confirmed features that will be available for everyone who owns the base game.

Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition Content Overview

Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara is our new narrative expansion. Split between the present day and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland, you’ll meet Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past who has arrived in Ezo. In the present, you’ll explore a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his gang of loyal followers, the Vipers. In the past, you’ll experience Atsu’s time in the Battle of Sekigahara and a key moment in her life before she returned home for her quest for vengeance. You’ll meet new enemies and find new heavy weapons, new armor sets, new dyes, and more.

Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted is a brand new single-player combat survival mode, our spin on a roguelike. You’ll accept bounties in order to start new runs, where taking down enemies will earn you perks, as well as unlock additional characters to play as. We’ll have much more to show soon, but as you can see in the trailer today, Atsu is a master with the dual katana, while Oyuki excels with the kusarigama, and Nagato shines with a yari. We love to watch the amazing combat reels that have been shared with us on social media, and can’t wait to see you all try to perfect these runs.

Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition also includes all of the in-game content previously included in the Ghost of Yōtei Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as the Charm of Hokkyokusei. If you purchase by September 30, you’ll also get an early unlock of the Sakai Armor on October 1 for Atsu to wear, a throwback to Jin’s family armor from Ghost of Tsushima.

Other stuff included in the Complete Edition includes:

  • New tracks for Watanabe Mode that will be available throughout the entire game when the mode is enabled.
  • New photo mode stamps
  • Additional cosmetics for New Game+, and new Trophies for both Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted.

For base game owners, the new features that you can expect include the following:

These include the new Beauty of Yōtei mode, which allows for a screensaver-like view of the environments of Ezo to keep on and relax at home (and take stunning new Photo Mode captures). Sucker Punch also added new tracks for the Watanabe Mode that will be available throughout the entire game when the mode is enabled.

Quality-of-life additions are also confirmed to be part of the update, such as transmog (option to keep the armor’s appearance while using different stats), a new high-contrast accessibility option, and more.

Expect the official changelog to be released on October 1 or near it.
