Tarsier Studios has released a meaty patch for Reanimal today, April 16, and this adds a few nifty features, a new hat and more.

Console gamers will see this as Reanimal update 1.000.007, while the developers call this the version 1.7 patch.

For PC gamers, this adds full Steam Deck compatibility, HDR support and more. Read on to know what got added today.

Reanimal Players Receive New Hat via Patch 1.7

Here’s what players can expect from today’s update:

New Features

The Bugsplatter Hat has been added by Tarsier as a token of appreciation for all players for free (pictured above). Players will be able to unlock the hat once they’ve applied the patch and boot the game.

HDR

We’ve added HDR support on PC (you need a monitor/tv with HDR support). HDR really amps up the atmosphere and visuals of the game, with a wider color range more details come to life and is definitely something worth trying out!

Go to Settings -> Video and toggle “HDR” to ON to enable HDR.

Ultra Wide monitor support

We’ve added support for Ultra Wide monitors on PC. This is a hot topic, it was definitely something we were really worried about since the game is really designed with specific camera angles to create the best experience. There might be a couple of scenes / places where UW breaks the scenes a bit, but overall the game looks absolutely stunning and something we’re really pleased with. But before you jump in trying UW, we still advise you to first play it in normal aspect ratio as the game was intended.

Go to Settings -> Video and toggle “Unlock Aspect Ratio” to ON to enable Ultra Wide rendering (note that the main menu will not be rendered in UW)

Steam Deck Full Compatibility

Not having full support on Steam Deck was a bit of a frustration point to us, the only thing missing to get full support on Steam Deck was to implement the virtual keyboard. But fear not, it’s now implemented in Path 1.7, so we now have full support for Steam Deck!

General

  • General crash fixes
  • Audio fixes
  • Online connection and stability fixes
    • Fixed an issue where players on Steam could not host or join, sessions failed to initiate
  • HDR Support on PC
  • Ultra wide support on PC

Nintendo Switch 2

On Nintendo Switch 2, Single Joy-Con support for local couch co-op has been added, meaning one Joy-Con per player is now all you need to suffer through the nightmare together, straight out of the box.

In other horror gaming news, Bloober Team, the studio behind Silent Hill 2 remake and Cronos: The New Dawn, has mentioned they don’t want fewer than two games in production and explain why.
