Square Enix has released Star Ocean The Second Story R update 1.10 (PS5 update version 1.010), and this adds a slew of new content! Players can expect the new Chaos difficulty mode, new characters for Assault Actions, new weapons and a lot more! Read on for the official patch notes.
Star Ocean The Second Story R Update 1.10 Patch Notes for March 27:
- Added “CHAOS” difficulty.
- Added new raid enemies to post-game world map.
- Added characters that can be used for Assault Actions.
- Added new weapons, armor, accessories, and key items.
- Added new craftable weapons to IC Customization.
- Adjusted ally symbologist AI.
- Added a feature that allows players to choose whether or not their level is carried over when carrying over save data.
- Added a feature that changes the title screen once the game has been beaten.
- Added text to be displayed when using Oracle.
- Added playback features to the Ending Collection under the title screen’s “Special” option.
- Added “Char. Graphics Collection” under the title screen’s “Special” option.
- Miscellaneous bug fixes.

CHAOS DIFFICULTY:
Introducing ” CHAOS ,” a level of difficulty that exceeds the “UNIVERSE” difficulty !
Enemy character parameters have increased, and you will need even deeper strategies and preparations to take on this high difficulty level with a well-trained party!
BATTLE:
The Ten Sages who tormented Claude and his friends in the storyline have appeared as raid enemies in various locations !
If you defeat the Ten Sages, who are even more powerful than when you fought them in the storyline, you will get ” jewels ” that can be used to summon them in assault actions!
SEARCH & IC:
New weapons and equipment will be available for each companion character !
New items can be obtained through item creation or as drops from raid enemies.
EVENT – New Illustrations Added:
The “Character Graphic Collection” feature allows you to enjoy illustrations of all characters at any time, and the ” Event Replay” feature has been added to the “Ending Collection” so that you can look back on your adventure at any time!
In the “Character Graphic Collection”, you can enjoy illustrations of not only Claude and Rena, but also the Ten Sages and newly added NPCs, and the “Event Replay” feature in the “Ending Collection” allows you to look back on the endings you have reached so far at any time.
UTILITY:
New features have been added to make gameplay even more diverse after clearing the story!
- Depending on your clear data, Claude and Lena’s stars will appear on the title screen.
- You can now choose to reset your level when transferring data (items etc. will be transferred)

Bought this when it came out, glad I waited to play it since these updates sound awesome!
