Starfield Update 1.000.004

PS5 players of Starfield rejoice! Bethesda has released a new game update on the platform, and unlike last week’s patch, tbis applies to ALL PS5 versions and not just the PS5 Pro.

Players will see Starfield update 1.000.004 out today, April 23, and this should alleviate the crasihng issues, though we don’t expect this to fix all the technical problems.

For the official word on the patch, read on for Bethesda’s explanation.

Starfield PS5 Update Today Fixes Crashing Problems

Per Bethesda, here’s what’s in today’s update: “We just released a hotfix for @StarfieldGame on PS5 which includes a fix for a crash that could occur while viewing load order as well as several other crash and stability fixes.”

The devs add, “Thank you to everyone who’s been playing the latest update and providing your feedback. If you’re still experiencing any crashing or other issues, we encourage you to reach out to our support team at http://help.bethesda.net and provide your info and a save file if you’re able — we’ll be addressing more issues across all platforms in a future update!”

Again, we don’t expect this to fix every crash, and as expected, it doesn’t. One community member has confirmed that after installing the patch on PS5, they already crashed when viewing the last order. Another player on PS5 also experienced a crash after the patch just by roaming around.

It’s evident now that Bethesda needs to release multiple patches in order to fix the myriad of issues the PS5 version is facing, and we’re hoping that happens sooner rather than later.

Outside of the PS5 version, PC, Xbox players area also experiencing issues that have yet to be resolved. The “Matters of the Hart” quest is still bugged for many across all platforms and Bethesda has yet to acknowledge when a fix for this will be released.

Other issues we know of include:

  • Terran Armada DLC issues across all platforms
  • Game won’t load on larger outposts (Xbox)
  • Random NPCs appear in ships and won’t leave
  • Save slot issues that prevent players from having more than one slot
  • Starfield creations menu runs into disconnect issues

Once Bethesda acknowledges the issues regarding the issues or rolls out an update, we’ll let our readers know.
