Battlefield 4 PC System Requirements Listed on Ubisoft’s Uplay [Updated]

Update

According to an EA employee who works on Origin, the listing is apparently a tweaked placeholder:

“I don’t believe the final system requirements have been decided yet, and this looks a lot like placeholder system requirements from BF3 with a couple of tweaks. I know everyone’s excited for BF4 news, but I wouldn’t trust an Ubisoft page with system requirements for it just yet.”

Thanks, Gamepur.

Those who have been patiently waiting for the PC system requirements to be detailed for Battlefield 4, anxious to know if their PC can run the latest installment of the popular FPS, might not need to wait any further.

Coming from an unusual source, the folks over at Ubisoft (spotted on Reddit) have seemingly accidentally detailed the requirements to run Battlefield 4 on their Uplay store client. Check it out:

Minimum Requirements

  • OS: Windows Vista (Service Pack 1) 32-bit
  • Processor: 2 GHz Dual Core (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2. 2.7 GHz)
  • Memory: 2 GB System RAM
  • Hard Drive: 20 GB
  • Video Card: DirectX 10.1 compatible with 512 MB RAM
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible

Recommended Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • Processor: Quad-core CPU
  • Memory: 4 GB
  • Hard Drive: 20 GB
  • Video Card: DirectX11 compatible with 1024 MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950)
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible

Battlefield 4 is set to launch for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 29, and will be a launch title for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

EA has yet to officially confirm Battlefield 4′s system requirements, but we might still be looking at the real deal here.

Is your rig ‘prepared 4 battle’? Do you think it can run visuals like this?

It’s all good to go on my side, just overclocked my 560ti. I know it was just the alpha, and it didn’t have all of the textures, but it ran it pretty good when I played.

  • dumyspeed

    2600k,16gb ram,2×7970,ssd and waiting :)

    • Joseph

      you’re sorted then. :P

      • dumyspeed

i hope so, cuz for bf3 i had a q9650, 8gb ram and 3x gtx260, and after 5 sec of gameplay i discovered it was pure shit

        • Joseph

nah man, that’s a better build than what I was going for. :D And mine was set for ”at least three years” so you’re gonna be blown away! :)

  • Arvid

    I5 2500k, 8gb ram, 2xGTX580 lets do this!

  • dpg70

What’s this? New articles? Was the MP1st crew on vacation?

    • PuddingAuxRais1ns

I happens every weekend. There is an overall shortage of gaming news.

      • jaskdavis

        They gotta have a Day… off? ;)

        • zacflame

          DAY…OFF?
whats the meaning of this, mister squidward?

  • Cillian Greene

They release on uPlay but not steam. This s why people hate you, EA!

    • the greater gamer

I dont think ea had anything to do with it since they said those arent the real specs, and why they would have ubisoft show the specs instead of themselves should already tell people tha they are not real.

    • mechcell

Ubisoft only the right to sell it and they not had right to able to play it on uPlay. If you buy it from
Ubisoft, you only get the game code for Origin.

      • Cillian Greene

That’s what I’m saying, EA let ubi sell it, but they wont let steam do it

  • ReeceGators

ive got a q6600 quad core 2.4 gHz and a geforce gt g40 but i only have 2gb of ram. What do you need ram for in battlefield? just curious to see how it would play on my rig

    • Joseph

upgrade to 4gb ram if possible, it’ll help a lot! I have intel hd2000 graphics on my laptop…so glad for xbox. :P

      • ReeceGators

problem is i can only have ddr2 cuz of my motherboard and only have 32 bit so yeah

        • Joseph

laptop? that sucks man, fingers crossed they have the game well tuned to work on many systems :)

          • ReeceGators

No old pc. from an averaage i upgraded my cpu and gpu. I think I’ll upgrade
            -OS
            then immediately
            -Ram
later on ill build my pc from scratch, ill already have disk reader, cpu, gpu, OS and crappy ram so ill upgrade mobo, prob ram, hdd, and cooling system

  • SamRock

I really doubt if this is right.. specially the 32 BIT vista part. Becuase I remember DICE saying that the new ForstBite engine will need a 64 Bit OS to run and that will be the future

    • jaskdavis

Yep, I was going to say the same, unless the MSR require less then 3gb then I would see it fit, Kind of like the Console Version (Current not next gen)

  • HurlingDervish

And the system requirements for Gay of Duty Ghosts will be: A rusty toaster

inb4 the immature COD queers get mad at me for speaking the truth.

    • Masada157

      “Immature cod queers” huh?

I’m a huge battlefield fan, but its guys like you who make me ashamed of being one.

    • jj16802

Are you still hating any game that isn’t Battlefield? Give it a rest and stop making BF fans look bad. Variety is the spice of life, so give other games a chance.

      • ReeceGators

Can we get “Variety is the spice of life” on a t-shirt or something. maybe like a new old-spice scent called variety. Yeah. I like that

      • iSpiRiiT

There is no better. Theres only what you prefer!.

I play Both but prefer BF.
But i still think cod can be fun sometimes.

        • jj16802

I love Battlefield as well, but since when does loving a game gives people the right to put down others games that other gamers like as well?

    • the greater gamer

Stupidity is your downfall young one.

    • QwietStorm

Yes, immature indeed. I can definitely see your point…

    • IceKoldKilla

Because your opinion is the “truth”. You should be a politician! Please teach me more “HurlingDervish”! What else is shit and what else am I? Am I also a 12 year old kid or a 40 year old fatass in my mom’s basement? Do I play CoD all day and have M$ fuck me over non-stop? Am I ignorant and stupid? Do I even have a life? Maybe I should get a job? Or should I just kill myself because I’m not you?

    • Mr. Thuggins

You’re like a hybrid, new species of idiot.

  • Tyler Dominick

Alpha was x64 only and I really hope this feature stays… we need not limit ourselves with OS limits on ram usage. This is why we all have gaming PC’s and really if you are not running an x64 environment on your machine( x64 has been out since win XP), I don’t care how old, you still should have at least four gig’s of ram and and graphics card so you need the x64 to be able to address all the ram in your system. I really hope that BF4 is x64, DX 11 (no dx9/10 support, not even in the code I hope)

    • jaskdavis

NO DX9 or 10! But I think it will have in the code since the Current Gen Build will be DX9 :/

      • Tyler Dominick

Yeah, the alpha had DX10 support and BF3 on PC was DX10/11 only

    • iSpiRiiT

Disagree theres alot of low spec pc gamers!.

      • Tyler Dominick

Yes, but for a FPS of this quality they should at least have x64, 4 gig’s of ram, and an dx10 card ( were talking systems 5 years old or newer that should be a norm)

    • Tyler Dominick

So maybe game will be only DX 11, 11.1 ( MAYBE dx 10 support, but i really hope NOT)

Johan Andersson, Technical Director on Frostbite at DICE, posted on NeoGAF and claimed that Battlefield 4 will fully support DX11.1 and that this particular API will offer improved CPU performance.
      As Johan said:
“We use DX11.1, there are some optimizations in it (constant buffer offsets, dynamic buffers as SRVs) that we got in to the the API that improves CPU performance in our rendering when one runs with DX11.1. This will be in BF4.”

  • Conor Casey

My new Alienware 17 is ready to beast this game!

  • Masada157

20 gigs? Dayum, that’s probs the most memory intensive game that ill be getting.

    • dieger

eh not really RAGE was 21 gigs i believe

      • jaskdavis

What? lol They mean the Download Size, not how much Memory “RAM” you need, I have never seen a game over 4gb for Memory.

        • dieger

yeah i know i probably should have corrected him but meh too lazy :p but yeah was talking about HDD space

        • DanDustEmOff

Didn’t Crysis 3 recommend 12 to run at max spec?

      • iSpiRiiT

Max Payne 3 requires 35 gigs or something.

  • Magilla187

im just curious as to why it was on the UBisoft site and #2 where have the MP1st people been the past couple of days i was outside checking the Gaming news and didnt find any new articles

    • Joel Santana

Yeah I found that odd myself, and updated the article to include the latest information on this.

      • dieger

i waited 2 days for the borderlands 2 level cap story :p

        • Joel Santana

          Yeah, I know. :(

I actually had it written and ready to go five minutes after the stream finished, But, the rest of the staff were busy during the weekend.

  • ReeceGators

I know this isnt really the place but if anybody out there has Payday the Heist and wants to play, my Steam username is Reece Gators

  • FPS_GURU

Random thought…………What would be cool ??? cross multiplayer. So BF4 on PS3 players can play with PS4 players that also have BF4.

    • the greater gamer

Wouldnt work balancing issues this gen will have 32 players next gen will have 64 players and the maps will probably have enlarged playing fields on the next gen because of the larger player count, but to answer your question it would make no difference really i mean i assume ps3 users would play just like ps4 users and 360 users would play just like xbox one users.

      • BillyHoWCR

This gen has 24 players for console. but that wouldn’t stop from any 24 player matches to work cross platform in theory. But more to it then just the player count.

  • theplantain

my new EXT12345 Super Gforce MI6 GPU can handle this

  • WarHero

Seems a bit odd but it’s too early to judge, my 16GB RAM 2133Mhz,1TB HDD,250GB SSD, i7 3770k, and 2x AMD 7990 are waiting..

    • jaskdavis

Yeah… you should be plenty able to run this on max! But why no SSD?

      • z0ml3ie P1kachu

        He has 250GB SSD

        • jaskdavis

          Yeah… I missed that XD

    • Cillian Greene

That’s really igh end, 2 7990s? , any pics, builds like that are pretty rare.

      • WarHero

Unfortunately my camera broke even though I want to share my glory :P but I’ve seen 4x SLI GTX Titans before or something crazy like that so yeah builds like these are very hard hitting towards your wallets at the same time it’ll last for years to come.

  • iSpiRiiT

Looking at the requirements. My craptop might run BF4.
But ofcorse on low settings and lowest resolution wich is 640×480
plus config and some few tweaks here and there.

And my specs are really low end!.
    AMD Athlon ii x2 p340 2,2GHz,
    ATI Radeon 5470 2gb.
all i know is that i have enough ram. 4gb.
It’s gonna be interresting trying bf4 with a very low end laptop.
    Looking forward to BETA

    • Warlon

Better off installing powerpoint and playing with clip art. Skyrim…yes BF3 no

      • theplantain

        hahahahaha

    • mechcell

Maybe, i was able to play BF3 on my laptop. My laptop specs is
      Samsung R580
      2.27 GHz Core i5-430M
      Nvidia GeForce 310M
      4GB of memory

    • Cillian Greene

Just get BF3, it usually goes on sale for a bout $5

  • KennyKyle

What Ubisoft have to do with Battlefield 4?

    • mechcell

      Only to sell it.

      • KennyKyle

Ubisoft isn’t the publisher of BF4…

        • mechcell

          Ubisoft HAVE THE RIGHT TO SELL IT L I K E , GAMESTOP, GAME, EBGAME, B E S T B U Y, ETC.

          • KennyKyle

            Ubisoft isn’t a store …

            • mechcell

Congratulations, You’re bigger idiot I’ve meet on the internet. i make a special video just for you.
              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isjUdepJtJ4&feature=youtu.be

            • KennyKyle

Congratulations! You just wasted your 30 seconds of live! In addition you won’t get it back.

            • mechcell

              *30 seconds of you’re life*

            • KennyKyle

              Do you feel better now?

  • jrstryker

Waiting to build a new rig after the official specs come out. So it better be able to run those sort of visuals.

Hopefully I get a job again and I can save up for a very high-end gaming PC setup. Also gotta buy PS4 and that’s cheaper so that first then the PC.

  • AtheistMason

Exactly the same as BF3′s system specs.. It definitely can’t be the final version.

…. Or is it real in the first place. Anyways why is it listed by Ubishit? I mean,… Soft

I have a x32 system. A very good rig , though. But i want to play this game and they NEED to support x32. Ive installed all my drivers and i don’t want to do it all over again.. believe me. And since its not very improved compared to Battlefield 3′s engine, it would be okay..

  • Matt Morgan

I am having a problem… My sound is not working at all in the beta and i have been on with live support for days and nothing they are saying is working… I have DirectX11… I think i am gonna call them tomorrow… Any help or suggestions would be appreciated Thanks!
