New Call of Duty: Ghosts Update Adds Dropzone and Onslaught DLC Maps To Playlists

A new Call of Duty: Ghosts game update is reportedly rolling out on various platforms.

According to some users, the update removes the Onslaught DLC playlist and puts the four new maps into the map rotations of regular playlists. It also introduces the recently rumored Drop Zone game mode to matchmaking, a popular mode first introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Thanks, jbosstheboss.

Users have also reported tweaks to Ghosts’ Extinction game mode, now allowing players to upgrade abilities and equipment.

Infinity Ward has yet to post official patch notes or specify to which platforms the update is coming, but we’ll be sure to get those details as soon as they become available.

Update 1

Reports are coming in that the new playlist update has made its way to the Xbox One and Xbox 360, in addition to the PC update earlier today. It sounds like PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users are still on standby.

Update 2

Infinity Ward tells us the playlist update will also be hitting PlayStation platforms by Monday, March 31.

Update 3

Infinity Ward has noted on Twitter that the playlist update will be live for PlayStation users within the next 24 hours.

Update 4

Reports are coming in that the playlist update is now live for PlayStation users.

Finally, drop zone made for some fun matches in MW3. I thought it was garbage that the new maps weren’t included in the regular playlists at launch, they’re fun to play but need to be mixed in.

  • jahladagaming

Well, that’s Ghosts finished for me then, I only ever play the DLC maps as they’re just about bearable.

  • ColonelBoston

It’s about fucking time. Not adding the DLC maps to the regular rotation for over 2 months is inexcusable, especially when you factor in how 3arc adds them in the day after the DLC launches. No reason to buy DLC #2 until DLC #3 launches then, right?

    • DanDustEmOff

      What like Nuketown 2025?

      • NL37

Don’t even get me started on nuketown.
We all paid for the dlc map pack, but we can’t even enjoy it in our favourite match type unless we go on the playlist.
And ps owners get it worse because we have to wait an extra mMONTH,
Fix this in the next cod PLS

        • ColonelBoston

I think you mean in the next DLC as IW is the only cod studio that does this shit. However, Sledgehammer was ‘trained’ in all things cod by IW & they’re making the next cod, so who knows?

Like I said though, now I know not to buy a map pack until it’s in the reg rotation.

          • Jason Lane

No they (Treyarch) pulled the same shit with Nuketown as IW has done with the new maps and Freefall. This getting cute with DLC stuff has convinced to never buy another one. Halo 2 had it right a decade ago with DLC implementation, not sure why COD can’t get it right.

        • Brandon Griffin

They did fix that eventually though, didn’t they? I mean, it took way to long, but it happened?

    • Jason Lane

Exactly. Me and my friends have been so pissed they left these out of rotation. No one is even talking about getting new maps because of this bullshit. It’s almost like they’re trying to piss people off. In the words of W.Bush: “Mission accomplished”.

    2 questions:
    1. Upgrades for what specifically on extinction? An example would be nice
    2. Is it possible, like on MW3, to choose whether you want dlc when matchmaking or not? Kinda got annoyed about that on BO2 before proper dlc came out *cough cough* Nuketown 2025 *cough cough*

  • sb

IW is washed up. Come on, theses little gimmicks with the DLC. First Michael Meyers, now the Predator. I can see the next DLC will have Freddy Krueger with an insane commando lunge.

I popped this game in today for the first time since Titanfall came out. Nothing has changed, the lag is worse than ever, constant host migrations, and the spawns. Played on that map with the beer brewery and right as I get dropped in the match we were spawn camped on the side with the lumber.

    • Brandon Griffin

Hang on, you’re only now saying they’re washed up? They’ve been washed up since the founding of Respawn Entertainment.

  • C BREEZY

Fuck’s sake, update the PS4 playlists too please!

  • BAMozzy69 .

The Onslaught DLC is still not added to the general playlist maps on Xbox One. I still have the Onslaught playlist option, drop zone has been added but the maps are not in the general rotation.

    Very disappointing!!!
