Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer Suggests Near-900p Resolution on Xbox One

Sledgehammer Games’ 2014 Call of Duty title, Advanced Warfare, certainly boasts improved visuals over previous iterations, judging by the debut trailer showcasing gameplay on the Xbox One.

But according to DigitalFoundry‘s most recent findings, Advanced Warfare may also boast an ‘advanced’ resolution on Microsoft’s next-gen console.

Their tests, conducted on this high-quality version of the trailer, indicate that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare runs in the area of a 1568×882 resolution. That is, at least, what was presented and may or may not be indicative of the final product.

“The game gives the impression of a 900p title with post-process anti-aliasing, but the framebuffer appears to be slightly lower than that, representing a 50 per cent boost in overall resolution compared to Ghosts, but only 67 per cent of the pixel density of a full 1080p presentation,” DigitalFoundry writes.

It was announced in Activision’s recent press release that developer Sledgehammer Games is focusing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare production solely on next-gen consoles and PC, meaning a boost in visual fidelity and resolution is much more likely with their upcoming launch. What was shown thus far in the trailer indicates a clear improvement over last year’s Call of Duty: Ghosts, regardless.

As with all Call of Duty launches, a solid 60 FPS frame rate will undoubtedly be a top priority for the team. But we’ll have to wait until closer to launch for confirmation of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s final resolution on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
