While Activision might not have been that happy with the overall Destiny franchise sales that led to the publisher’s split with the studio Bungie, it seems the players this generation are loving it a lot — especially those in the US.
According to Mat Piscatella, games industry analyst at The NPD Group, since Destiny’s debut in 2014, the franchise is the second best-selling first-person shooter franchise in US dollar sales, and only trails behind — you guessed it — Call of Duty!

Note that this is a bit of a surprise, as I assumed that the #2 spot would belong to something like Battlefield, which has a big following as well. Are you surprised by this news at all or not that much?
In other Destiny 2 news, the free-to-play version of the game called Destiny 2: New Light is launching tomorrow, and here’s what’s included in it. Veteran players, don’t forget that the paid expansion called “Shadowkeep” will also launch tomorrow, and here’s the launch trailer to whet your appetites.
Once Shadowkeep and New Light are out tomorrow, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
