XDefiant Player Count Hits 10 Million in Less Than 2 Weeks; TDM Mode Out in a Couple of Weeks
While Ubisoft hasn’t announced how many gamers played XDefiant at launch, it seems whatever that projected number was, it was shattered by the community, as the devs revealed the XDefiant player count has already reached 10 million in less than two weeks!
This was revealed by XDefiant Executive Producer Mark Rubin in a video chat at IGN Live 2024. When asked how the reception has been so far for XDefiant, Rubin said, “The reception has been amazing. We’ve been keeping the game kind of lowkey, right? We’re not spending $250 million on crazy trailers; we’re a lowkey game. We’re just here for the fun, for the fans and building it with the community. The game’s been out for less than three weeks now. Reception has been extremely positive. We hit way bigger numbers than we expected. We were a million in an hour; we were hitting 10 million in less than two weeks, so the numbers have absolutely been amazing.”
While that’s good news for players, it gets even better, as Rubin also confirmed that TDM (Team Deathmatch) is set to be released for players in the next “couple of weeks”
The player count hitting that high isn’t that surprising given it is a free-to-play game, and has that Call of Duty vibe going for it. No word on the breakdown of that 10 million number, but based on PlayStation Network data, the game seems to be faring well when it comes to sticking power, as the player count on PSN dipped less than 5% several weeks from launch.
More potential good news is on the way for players, as Ubisoft will unveil Season 1 of XDefiant later today at Ubisoft Forward. MP1st will cover the info that fires out from there, so don’t worry if you won’t be able to watch the show.
Expect an XDefiant update to be released later this week that will add in sniper flinch, bunnyhopping nerfs and more.
