Ubisoft’s Call of Duty competitor, XDedfiant, launched just a few weeks ago to generally positive reception. It looks like that new game magic hasn’t worn off quite yet, because the XDefiant player count on PS5 has apparently only dropped 5.98% in the several weeks since its release, which is no small feat.

This data was revealed in a post by TrueTrophies late yesterday. According to their sources at GameInsights, a video game analytics company, XDefiant’s player count jumped a whopping 532% from its early access numbers during its first week of launch. In week two, the count went up another 11.9%.

Since then, the player count has dipped, but only to 5.98% below the first week’s numbers. Given the overwhelming amount of live-service titles and competitive options on the market right now, this is an impressive statistic. It’s very common for players to fall off titles like XDefiant fairly quickly after they get their first taste of it. Important to note, this is just the numbers for PS5, and the game is available on both PC and Xbox Series X|S as well.

Whatever Ubisoft is doing with XDefiant, they’re clearly doing something write. In fact, we wrote up a list of five things we believe Call of Duty can learn from the newest shooter on the scene, which you can read right here. Ultimately, whether or not XDefiant survives depends on the cadence of new content for it and the amount of active support it gets.

Have you been playing XDefiant? If so, let us know how you’ve been enjoying it down in the comments.
