Call of Duty 2026 Teaser Is Out and Seems to Hint at the Release Date
Marketing for this year’s Call of Duty has officially begun today, as Activision has released a teaser giving us our first official look at the game’s theme.
Today, the official Call of Duty YouTube channel has started a live broadcast of what seems to be a looping footage of a burning structure presumably damaged by war.
There’s also a more significant teaser where we see soldiers enter a convenience store.
COD 2026 Teaser Kicks Off Hype Train for the Year
You can check out the live broadcast that’s on a loop via the official Call of Duty YouTube channel, but if you want to see the actual teaser that has something far more tangible, check out the video below.
It’s a short 30-second clip, but what’s shown there honestly looks amazing — since the devs won’t be shackled by last-gen hardware this time around. While nothing official has been shared, this year’s Call of Duty is said to be Modern Warfare 4 and Infinity Ward is confirmed to be the studio working on it. Details are scarce, but the video includes references to North Korea, implying US troops will have a new antagonist to go up against.
Interestingly enough, the short teaser has also seemingly revealed the release date. In the upper right, you can see “2026-10-28,” which translates to October 28, 2026. If so, this would fall in line with past Call of Duty game releases, which usually range from the last week of October to the second week of November.+
For reference, here’s when the last five Call of Duty games were released:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – November 14, 2025
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – October 25, 2024
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III – November 10, 2023
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II – October 28, 2022
- Call of Duty: Vanguard – November 5, 2021
As you can see, Modern Warfare 2m which was developed by Infinity Ward, was released on October 28. Although October 28 is a Wednesday, which isn’t your typical release day for video games, as AAA titles usually get released on a Tuesday or Friday.
It’ll be June in a few days’ time, and we’ll be expecting Activision to showcase trailers and teasers for the game until the big multiplayer blowout. Hopefully, Black Ops 7’s drubbing from Battlefield 6 will wake the executives up, and we will finally stop seeing cartoons and other goofy skins, gun effects, and the like show up in this year’s iteration of the military first-person shooter.
