We’re not even halfway through 2025, and yet, there’s already a rumor about next year’s Call of Duty game. Not only that, but the game is said to be in development using the nexr-gen Xbox console.

Before diving in, remember that these are rumors and nothing has been announced or confirmed so far, so take everything with a grain of salt.

Call of Duty 2026 Is Said to Be Modern Warfare 4

The rumor comes from Call of Duty leaker Ghost of Hope. According to the leaker, there will be no last-gen support (PS4, Xbox One) for Call of Duty 2026. Its UI (User Interface) is similar to older games, and will be more traditional than Black Ops 6.

The game engine used in development is said to have been overhauled, addressing Modern Warfare 2 issues like “visual clutter.” COD 2026 is also claimed to be in development using dev kits for the next Xbox.

Finally, the report mentions Warzone 3 won’t be released if Verdansk fails to retain the game’s current player base. Verdansk is rumored to be making a comeback in Warzone in Season 3.

There are some lofty claims, and again, these are rumors and nothing has been confirmed or debunked by anyone in Activision or any Call of Duty studio. Are devs already working on Call of Duty 2026? Undoubtedly. Is it on the new Xbox hardware? Maybe. If that’s the case, this means we should be close to getting the next-gen consoles. Who knows? Perhaps we’ll see the next Xbox released in 2026.

Do you believe any of these claims? More importantly, do you think we’ll be seeing the next-generation of Xbox soon?
