As many publishers continue to avoid launching games too close to GTA 6, Playground Games’ upcoming Fable reboot has become the latest title to move its release date.

Microsoft announced through a social media post that it has decided to delay Fable to ensure the game gets its own dedicated launch window away from a highly packed 2026 holiday schedule.

The company confirmed that the game will now launch in February 2027, moving it away from the crowded release window expected in late 2026, when games like GTA 6 are scheduled to launch.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the official Xbox account wrote, “This is year is packed with incredible games for XBOX players to enjoy, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI.”

They also explained that Fable was delayed from its fall window to February 2027 to give the game a better launch window and avoid the heavy competition expected during the 2026 holiday season. The company also plans to showcase more of the game at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7.

Although the delay is not a very long one, it will still disappoint many fans who were hoping to see the game arrive sooner.

More details about the release, including an exact launch date, are expected to be shared at a later time. As more information becomes available, we’ll make sure to let you guys know here at MP1st.

In other news, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick admitted to being “scared” about the launch of GTA 6 because of the extremely high expectations.
