Dying Light update 1.53

Developer Techland has been known to provide unparalleled support for their games post-launch, and the perfect example for that is the one that started it all: Dying Light.

While Dying Light was released in 2015, Techland even updated the game last year with the “Retouched” patch., which we assumed would be the last one.

Today, Techland proved us wrong, as the developers released Dying Light update 1.53, though if you’re playing the Enhanced Edition, it should be at version 1.46.

Note that this is an unannounced patch, so don’t expect much.

Techland has remained silent on the patch, and the only changelog known is that this update is for “minor fixes.”

That said, we have an idea what this patch is for, and it’s for the game’s introduction to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for July.

Per Sony:

Dying Light | PS4

From the creators of hit titles Dead Island and Call of Juarez comes Dying Light, the game whose uncompromising approach to gameplay set new standards for first-person zombie games. Survive in a city beset by a zombie virus. Engage in gory combat and discover limitless options to confront your enemies, or join forces with other players to raise your chances of survival in an exciting co-op mode. Will loyalty to your superiors prove stronger than the will to save the survivors? The choice is yours…

Expect the game to be available in the service on July 28.  Outside of that, nothing has been shared by Techland, and we’re not expecting any official changelog to be shared too. If we see anything surface, we’ll update the article with the info.

For those that haven’t booted the game since the Retouched update, here’s what it brings to players:

  • Enhanced Graphics & Performance: Enjoy increased and upscaled texture quality, a new “Ultra” 8k shadow quality level, improved physics based rendering on metallic surfaces and water, and extended LOD ranges. The Retouched Update is about squeezing out even more from the Dying Light you already love. It’s not a complete overhaul or remaster.
  • Improved Audio Experience: Immerse yourself deeper with a remastered soundtrack by Paweł Błaszczak, the original composer, who meticulously recreated the retro-tape sound by recording on actual tape. Expect new tracks and ambient themes throughout the game, and improved hit reaction audio for even more visceral combat feedback.

For those still playing the OG, leave a comment below and let us know if you notice anything different. Even the latest Dying Light game, Dying Light The Beast, has seen its updates slow down. The latest patch we received was three months ago, and it was to address some bugs.
