Diablo 4 Update 2.17/1.117 to Version 3.1.4 Sneaks Out Just Before BlizzCon
While Blizzard Entertainment is usually on the ball when it comes to game updates, Diablo 4 has just received a new patch on all platforms that the studio has remained mum about.
Players will see Diablo 4 update 2.17/1.117 available for download, and surprisingly, Blizzard hasn’t said anything about it. What makes this more interesting is that BlizzCon 2026 is happening this weekend, and it’s the place where the studio makes huge announcements.
PC gamers will see this patch bring the game to Diablo 4 version 3.1.4, and this is small download across all platforms.
Diablo 4’s New September Update Released Silently
As far as we’re aware, Blizzard hasn’t teased any game updates recently, which means this could be a security update, or maybe Blizzard is hiding what’s in it in time for BlizzCon.
One Diablo 4 player checked the BIOS updates and states it’s for general bug fixes and security improvements,” so this could very well be a minor update that’s not worth talking about, but even so, Blizzard has always communicated what’s in a client-side patch.
Another Diablo 4 player mentioned that this patch was predated by a Battle.net launcher update, which means this title update could very well be a prep for something much bigger, though it’s speculative at this point.
We’ve reached out to Blizzard about the patch, and if we receive a response, we’ll update the article with the information.
BlizzCon takes place this weekend from Saturday, September 12 to Sunday. Expect a multitude of announcements for Diablo 4 and other Blizzard-developed games such as Overwatch and more. It’s also highly likely that we’ll hear something about StarCraft as well, based on what’s been circulating online.
If you notice any gameplay-related changes from this patch, leave a comment and let us know.
