Marvel’s Wolverine Update 1.001.005 Adjusts Scent Trails
Possibly one of the biggest digs at Marvel’s Wolverine when reviews were released was how the game shoved scent trails (also known as fart gas) down players’ throats to show them where to go, in a game that, by and large, is a linear adventure.
Today, Insomniac Games has rolled out the first adjustment for it with Marvel’s Wolverine update 1.001.005. This title update also resolves other things but this is the primary change players can expect from the download.

Per Insomniac, “This hotfix addresses some common crashes experienced by a small percentage of players since launch. ”
The studio also states, “Additionally, this hotfix adjusts the presentation of the Scent Trails and Audio Sense indicators, including reduced opacity to make these visuals less intense.”
The dev team says they are continuing to “evaluate ways to further improve Senses in the game, including exploring toggleable options for a future update.”
Aside from that, there are also other bugs that will need to be squashed, such as a UV bug that Insomniac’s Director of Community & Marketing James Stevenson has confirmed will be fixed via a patch.
To date, Marvel’s Wolverine is now the lowest-rated AAA single-player game from a PlayStation first-party studio since Days Gone in 2019 by Bend Studio. However, gamer sentiment paints a different picture, as it is seeing high scores from user reviews on the PlayStation Network and on review aggregator sites.
