Marvel’s Wolverine Update 1.001.004 Pushes Initial List of Fixes; Insomniac Promises They Are Listening to Feedback
With Marvel’s Wolverine’s release, Insomniac Games has rolled out a game update to go alongside its release day and this applies more fixes to the action game.
Even if it’s a single-player game, Insomniac has still found the need to push out a Marvel’s Wolverine day-one update that will bring the game to version 1.001.004
While we’re not expecting major changes to the core gameplay, we are hoping that this update does change a significant criticism that a lot of reviewers had issues with.
Marvel’s Wolverine Day-One Patch Adds Bearded Logan
So far, Insomniac Games hasn’t commented on today’s update download, but we do know of at least one thing that got added today, and that’s to give Logan a beard!
Content creator Caboose was able to confirm it today and even provided a comparison shot of the before and after:
While the beard is a nice touch, Insomniac’s changelog doesn’t even mention it. The patch notes detailed are as follows:
The latest hotfix for Marvel’s Wolverine addresses some issues ahead of the game’s global launch, including potential progression blockers and issues with English voice overs.
- Fixed an issue where English VO would not play if the console language is set to any other language
- Fixed an issue where Jean Grey would drop off in a mission in Japan
- Fixed an issue where Logan wouldn’t slide under a prison door in Telambang.
Not only that, but gamers can expect more updates, as Insomniac Games announced how they’re listening to player feedback. Over on X, the studio made the following comment:
“]
It’s finally here – the launch day for Marvel’s Wolverine!
We’re grateful to everyone who has helped us reach this special moment. Players around the world are beginning their journey with Logan and we’re excited to learn about everyone’s experiences playing the game. We’re incredibly proud of what the team has created. We’re also actively engaged with our player community and gathering feedback to further refine the player experience.
We deeply appreciate our players’ passion, support, and time spent with Logan. We’re raising our claws in tribute, and can’t wait to hear about your own adventures playing Marvel’s Wolverine.
We’re hoping that the next update also applies changes to the “fart gas” thing that some reviewers have mentioned. If you’re unfamiliar with it, Marvel’s Wolverine features a “scent trail” for Logan to follow that points where he should go next…in a completely linear action game.
i don’t think you can turn off the Wolverine fart gas. this is after today’s update. i’m at the same spot where Skillup follows Jean Grey’s fart gas and you can see her fart gas in the background of the menu where those options are turned off, but Jean’s fart gas particles stay https://t.co/seHs52VNBY pic.twitter.com/WRdx0bjqkK

Naturally, this has sparked discourse on whether the game even needs this much hand-holding or if this is something Insomniac can “turn off” by default. It’s gotten so out of hand that even Insomniac Games’ Director of Community & Marketing had to comment on stating, “The scent trail isn’t always on. It represents Logan’s canon mutant super senses and elite tracking ability. It only is there when he’s tracking a specific scent / sound (a person, whisky, or another clue scent) – story/mission moments or when he catches whiff of a collectible.”
In related news, Insomniac has clarified recent comments by one of the game’s developers suggesting that Wolverine and Sabretooth were in some form of homoerotic relationship.
