Possibly one of the biggest quality-of-life features Call of Duty players have been asking for quite some time now is a way to not see cartoon or other silly-looking skins in a match.

Well, that’s about to be a reality — at least for Warzone.

Activision has announced today that starting in Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4, which will also be the start of a new season for Warzone, players will finally have a toggle to turn operator skins off!

Call of Duty Warzone Will Finally Add an Operator Skin Toggle Option Soon

Here’s what Activision has to say about it.

This all-new filter has been built specifically for the Modern Warfare 4 chapter, giving players more control over the Operator Skins they see in Call of Duty: Warzone only. When toggled on, the filter displays only Modern Warfare 4 Operators in the game, giving players the choice to see other Operator Skins.

When the toggle is ON:

  • You’ll see a Modern Warfare 4 Operator in place of any Operator or Operator Skin from another Call of Duty title (such as Black Ops 6) that’s been equipped by another player. This applies to enemies, party members, and squadmates, both in the lobby and during a match.
  • Your own equipped Operator will not change. You’ll continue to see the Operator you selected, even if it’s from another title.

The toggle only impacts your game, not the experience of others, and will be OFF by default.

Operators and Weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 will remain available in Call of Duty: Warzone starting with Season 1, including the Skins, Blueprints, and Camos you’ve earned and purchased for them. The collection you’ve built remains yours to use, and existing plans for Carry Forward for previous titles are not affected with this update.

About four months ago, Modern Warfare 4 developers said they were aiming for the game’s cosmetics and collabs to “feel authentic” and promised we wouldn’t see silly cartoon skins. Maybe this time they’re serious?

In other news, Activision is now spearheading development of the new Halo project, and this will be a new mainline entry and not a spinoff.
