If you’ve seen gameplay of Phantom Blade Zero, chances are you might have noticed how the game’s protagonist, Soul, wields more than just a standard katana, which isn’t surprising given how most action games offer the player a good number of weapons to use to spice the combat up.

It seems developer S-Game has taken that to heart, as the studio confirmed the number of weapons that’ll be available in the game, which will be a mixture of primary and secondary armaments.

Not only that, but players will be able to use those weapons and take on an insanely large number of bosses in the game too.

Phantom Blade Zero Will Feature a Great Number of Bosses and Weapons to Take Them on With

In a group interview, S-Game founder and director of Phantom Blade Zero, Liang Qiwei, also known as “Soulframe,” confirmed that the game will feature at least 50 bosses, possibly more. Not only that, but expect at least 30 primary weapons and 20 secondary weapons, which is an insane number to see.

Qiwei commented, “Actually, there are more than 30 units. There are 30 main weapons and about 20 secondary weapons, all of which you can obtain by defeating the boss. There are bosses as many as there are weapons, so there are at least 50 of them, and in reality, there might be even more.”

Qiwei continued talking about the enemies and how the deeper the player gets, the more enemy variety they’ll see.

“The sense of unity comes from the style of kung fu punk. As you played today, there are large and small enemies, as well as enemies with shields and those riding horses. However, each one starts from traditional Chinese martial arts and adds our own unique new elements. There’s one of those lines running through,” Qiwei said.

“On top of that, they create differences in their strategies and physique. The more you progress into the latter half, when you haven’t played yet, the variety will keep increasing,” he continued.

This is definitely more good news for the upcoming action game, especially for those looking for something that’s not a Souls-like.

Speaking of weapons, the developers also confirmed that the upgrades for each can be reset at any time, with players able to transfer a weapon level to another weapon.

Phantom Blade Zero is set for release on October 29 on the PS5 and PC.
