Dean Hall, the creator of DayZ and founder of RocketWerkz, has just revealed Gruntz, a new multiplayer survival game that you can already try for free on PC.

The game uses a top-down view, where players must work together to survive waves of enemies, build defenses, and manage the resources of their colony.

The game is inspired by Space Station 13 and has been developed using BRUTAL, an open-source development tool based on C# created by Ahwoo and RocketWerkz.

DayZ Creator Reveals His New Multiplayer Survival Game

Its first playable prototype is already available for Windows and Linux, although it can only be accessed through the Ahwoo launcher.

In Gruntz, each player takes on a role within the colony. Players can become soldiers responsible for fighting enemies, but they can also work as surgeons, cooks, engineers, or janitors. Working together will be very important, especially since each character has only one life.

Gruntz features three different game modes. In Zombie Survival, survivors must strengthen their colony and fight off waves of zombies until they can escape. Xeno Survival involves fighting against a group of aliens that attack at night, while Anomaly introduces an enemy that cannot be killed, forcing players to find a way to survive.

One of its most interesting features is a damage system that affects different parts of the body separately. Leg injuries will cause characters to limp, broken bones will require medical treatment, and open wounds will continue bleeding until they are bandaged.

The game will also feature a destruction system that can lead to unexpected situations. Fire can be used to eliminate enemies, but the flames can also spread, explode ammunition supplies, destroy buildings, and even cause floors to collapse.

Working together will also come with risks, as friendly fire will be enabled, meaning soldiers could accidentally injure their teammates.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the prototype is designed for matches lasting around an hour. Players will also be able to join servers where matches have already started, and the game will receive frequent updates. For now, its creators have not announced a release date for the final version. As more information becomes available, we’ll make sure to let you guys know here at MP1st.
