Silent Hill 1 remake release

Following the critical and commercial success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, fans were left eager for more modern takes on classic entries. Bloober Team answered that call last year by confirming development on a remake of the original 1999 Silent Hill.

While official details like a release window remain under wraps, well-known insider Dusk Golem reported that active development dates back to 2022, meaning a significant portion of the game could be done by now. Speculation has pointed toward a 2027 release, but now we can confirm that the title is effectively targeting a launch next year.

First Cast Details for Bloober Team’s Silent Hill Remake

The upcoming remake is currently in production under the casting codename “Project Noise.” While the game is targeted for 2027, do remember that production schedules change for various reasons.

This timeframe aligns with Konami’s stated strategy to maintain a steady, annual output for the franchise following Silent Hill f and the recent Silent Hill: Townfall. As series producer Motoi Okamoto noted in an interview with Famitsu, the publisher aims to release roughly one entry per year to keep a constant buzz around Silent Hill.

As development progresses toward that release window, MP1st can exclusively reveal the first cast names attached to star in the next remake: Gabrielle Fritz and Jade Matthew. While we couldn’t pin down the specifics for every role, the small cast of Team Silent’s 1999 original makes the actresses’ likely roles easy to narrow down.

London-based actress Gabrielle Fritz brings notable performance capture and AAA video game experience to the project, with past credits on titles like Battlefield 2042, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and the recent Luna Abyss. Meanwhile, fellow UK-based actress Jade Matthew further rounds out the cast, expanding her portfolio across video games after her work on the Korean MMORPG Dragon Nest.

Potential roles for each actress are varied, given the number of supporting female figures from the OG game such as police officer Cybil Bennett, nurse Lisa Garland, or primary antagonist Dahlia Gillespie. Notably, casting details for the iconic male lead, Harry Mason, have yet to surface, leaving the protagonist’s new actor a mystery for now.

While the casting uses the codename “Project Noise,” the remake itself has long been rumored internally under the moniker “Project G,” part of Bloober Team’s heavily stacked production pipeline. Alongside this project, the Polish studio currently has its hands full with multiple titles, including the Lazarus DLC for Cronos: The New Dawn and collaborations with other publishers.

Looking ahead, Konami producer Motoi Okamoto confirmed the publisher is planning second and third waves of Silent Hill games following its initial revival push. While most of these future entries remain unannounced, the Silent Hill remake is currently the only title confirmed as part of these upcoming releases.

Beyond Konami’s internal plans, news akin to Silent Hill has also emerged from the series’ original creator. We recently discovered casting calls at Bokeh Game Studio for Keiichiro Toyama’s next project, with the studio holding motion capture auditions for an unannounced horror game.
