With the Xbox Acquisition of Activision Blizzard expected to close this month, many had wondered if Xbox would be adding the publishers’ extensive catalog of titles to its Game Pass subscription. While subscribers shouldn’t expect to see major titles like Diablo 4 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 available in the subscription service this year, the soon-to-be-bought publisher confirmed you should anticipate titles to join the sub next year.

In a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter), Activision Blizzard had this to say about their games coming to Game Pass:

“It’s awesome to see anticipation building for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III. As we continue to work toward regulatory approval of the Microsoft deal, we’ve been getting some questions whether our upcoming and recently launched games will be available via Game Pass.

While we do not have plans to put Modern Warfare® III or Diablo IV into Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players around the world. And we anticipate that we would begin adding games into Game Pass sometime in the course of next year.”

The Microsoft-Activision Acquisition is currently expected to close within the week or so, despite the FTC’s recent new filing in an attempt to block the deal, and with it, Microsoft and Xbox will own several major IPs from Activision-Blizzard and King. These include the Call of Duty franchise, Diablo, and Overwatch, as well as several dormant IPs and significant icons such as Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon.
