Call of Duty Fans Upset About Black Ops 7 Calling Cards That Appear to Be AI Generated; Activision Issues Statement
Many Call of Duty players have been speaking out after noticing calling cards and other in-game assets in Black Ops 7 that look low-quality and show little effort, which has led many to believe they were made with artificial intelligence (AI).
On top of that, some players pointed out that a few calling cards have a style similar to Studio Ghibli artwork, which caused even more debate online. As a result, the discussion became big enough that Activision decided to respond publicly.
Activision Responds to Claims That Black Ops 7 Calling Cards Were Made With AI

Activision has issued a statement in response to allegations that generative-AI tools were used to create calling cards and other in-game assets. According to the company, “Like so many around the world, a variety of digital tools, including AI tools, to empower and support our teams to create the best gaming experiences possible for our players.”
The publisher explained that the creative process “continues to be led by the talented individuals in our studios” and did not clarify which specific assets may or may not have been generated with AI.
It’s worth noting that some older Call of Duty games even mentioned the use of AI tools on their store pages, which made players pay closer attention this year.
Previously, Treyarch has also said that all content shown during its Black Ops 7 reveal was “touched by people,” though it did not deny the use of AI tools in the development.
In other news, Treyarch has revealed that Black Ops 7 co-op campaign is getting a unique and shared experience endgame, which will feature 32 players.
