Black Ops 7 Co-op Campaign Has an Endgame That Looks to Be an Extraction-Inspired Mode

Treyarch is shaking things up for the Call of Duty series with Black Ops 7, as they’ve just revealed that for the first time, the series is getting an endgame experience for its cooperative campaign.

Get ready, because you’re about to be dropped into a massive playable map, with 32 players, all working together to complete missions, defeating enemies, and exfilling out to keep all your gear to fight another day.

Black Ops 7 Co-op Campaign Endgame Detailed

As revealed by Treyarch in the latest info post for Call of Duty Black Ops 7, a new “shared experience” endgame mode will be awaiting players after they’ve completed all 11 cooperative missions in Black Ops 7. The mode, simply referred to as “Co-Op Campaign Endgame,” will take place on Avalon and feature a variety of points of interest from the Black Ops franchise. Players will squad up with three other players (for squads of four) and play on the massive map with 28 other players (for a total of 32, each in squads of four), where they will complete objectives, scavenge for better gear, and fend off against a variety of enemies. A full breakdown of the mode can be found in the dev talk below.

Ultimately, players will need to exfil out of the designated zone they’re in, where they’ll be able to keep their Loadout and Combat Rating. In a lot of ways, it sounds like Black Ops takes on the extraction shooter genre, though it wasn’t clear if there was going to be any PvP here. It also sounds and looks very similar to Modern Warfare’s DMZ mode, which was the series’ take on an extraction shooter, though there does seem to be some key differences if you watch the video closely. It also seems that there is a bigger focus on the narrative side of things with this mode, as more of it will be unraveled as you progress, as well as when new content for it is released during seasonal updates.

It’s hard to say anyone was expecting to see this. Hopefully it’s as good as it looks!

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 officially launches this Friday, on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
