During the Age of Empires 25th anniversary event today, franchise publisher Xbox Game Studios announced that the 2002 Age of Mythology spinoff title will finally be getting a remaster in the form of Age of Mythology Retold. The remaster will serve as the “definitive edition” of the original game, and has no release date as of yet.

Age of Mythology Retold will be a PC title developed by World’s Edge, who are also developing the upcoming Age of Empires Mobile game, and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game will also join the PC Game Pass roster on day one.

Gods will return. Heroes will rise. Legends will battle. Age of Mythology Retold is in production! During today’s Age of Empires 25th anniversary event, Xbox Series X|S versions of Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires 4 were announced for release in 2023, and a launch trailer for Age of Empires 4: Anniversary Edition was also unveiled as the corresponding update has now gone live.
