UPDATE: Sledgehammer Games has moved the launch date of the new Weapons and Royalty Weapons on Xbox One to September 1.
Two iconic Call of Duty weapons, the AK47 and M16, made famous by games like Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, are back from the past and coming to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
later this month early next month, first on Xbox One, Sledgehammer Games announced today.
Both will get five variants each, any of which will also unlock the base weapon once found in a Supply Drop or Advanced Supply Drop.
To add some out-of-this-world flavor to the free weapons pack, Sledgehammer is also bringing the CEL-3 Cauterizer from Exo Zombies over to Advanced Warfare multiplayer. Like the previous two weapons, it’s coming to Xbox One first and can be unlocked via Supply Drops and Advanced Supply Drops.
According to the studio’s latest blog, the AK47 excels in medium to close range, but player will want to exercise recoil control by firing the weapon in short bursts. Like the ARX-160, the M16 fires in accurate bursts, even at long range, but does even more damage at the cost of a longer delay between bursts. Meanwhile, the CEL-3 shotgun fires fully automatic directed energy with a delayed fire rate in between the first and second shot, but then increases as the trigger is held.
In addition to the free weapons pack, version three of Advanced Warfare’s Royalty Weapon Variants will also debut later this month, first on Xbox One, this time with the special characteristic of increased range. Here’s a peek at what’s coming.
