Alan Wake 2 will feature 3D audio and use the full potential of DualSense’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback on the PS5. This was revealed in a new interview with Kyle Rowley, Co-director of the upcoming survival horror game.

Moreover, Rowley also reveals the Mind Place, which is a “discrete, 3D mental space Saga can retreat to at the press of a button.” Presumably, this is a place players can go to take a breath if fending off the enemies gets too overwhelming. Additionally, the Mind Place can be used by Saga draw different pieces of clues together, which is essential as an investigator.

This was mentioned by Alan Wake 2 Co-Director in the latest issue of PLAY magazine. He also reveals that the PS5’s SSD allows players to switch between the game and the “Mind Place” almost instantaneously.

Finding fresh footprints, Saga considers the case so far. This is where we’re first introduced to the Mind Place, a discrete, 3D mental space Saga can retreat to at the press of a button. Everything we see is running live on PS5 and, thanks to the console’s SSD, the switch is instantaneous. Co-director Kyle Rowley reveals the final release will also make the most of the DualSense’s adaptive triggers and haptics, and that the studio has plans for using 3D audio.

Earlier this week, Remedy also unveiled that Alan Wake 2 will feature less combat and will be a slowed down experience compared to its predecessor, and that it won’t shy away from elements of body horror, but will not show dismemberment.
