Larian Studios has just released Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5 via early access! For those playing the game on montiors/TVs that have HDR capablity (High Dynamic Range) and have it turned on, you might have noticed that it’s not working properly. Fortunately, there is a Baldur’s Gate 3 HDR PS5 issue workaround that seems to have done the trick for some gamers.
Baldur’s Gate 3 HDR PS5 Issue Workaround/Fix:
Here are some of the confirmed adjustments that fixed this issue according to the community.
BG3 HDR PS5 Fix 1:
I have an LG C2 and the game is 1000% unplayable with HDR turned on. It has crushed blacks. I turned off VRR and then went to HDR calibration, I kept both white scales normal and then on the black i was forced to turn it up to make it WORK. I also have fine tuned dark area at -20 to -25. BG3 HDR PS5 Fix 2:
For anyone having the same issue – try turning OFF HDR setting in PS5 – Settings – Screen and video – HDR.
If this doesnt fix the problem for you, try restarting the game / PS5, and you can try to turn off HDR setting in your TVs settings. (via buzinka)
BG3 HDR PS5 Fix 3:
You don’t have to turn off HDR. It’s the same bug that Jedi Survivor had. Just go into the PS5’s HDR Calibration and increase the last screen from 0 to 1. This will fix the crushed blacks. (via kevincha0s)
Note that given there’s a ton of TV brands, types and whatnot, there doesn’t seem to be an all-in-one fix know just yet. Given Larian’s turnaround times in addressing issues, we’re expecting a fix for this to be rolled out soon-ish via a patch.
