New Divinity Game

One of the biggest reveals at The Game Awards (which we managed to crack before it was officially announced) was Larian Studios’ Divinity.

While we got a spanking new trailer that showed off the game’s brutality and themes, there wasn’t a lot of gameplay info to chew on.

For those wondering, Larian has confirmed that this new Dvinity game will be a turn-based game.

New Divinity Game Will Be Turn-Based Confirmed

This nugget of info was confirmed by studio chief Swen Vincke in a new interview with Bloomberg. Not only that, but Vincke is now making some lofty claims.

Vincke noted, “Baldur’s Gate 3 was a good game and I’m proud of it, but I think this one is going to be way better.” The studio chief mentioned one of the challenges in developing Baldur’s Gate 3, and that’s by taking the ruleset of Wizards of the Coast’s pen-and-paper RPG and adapting it into a game.

That won’t be an issue with the new Divinity game. “Here, we’re making a system that’s made for a video game. It’s much easier to understand,” Vincke explained.

Given how Baldur’s Gate 3 is universally loved, and is considered by many to be one of the best games of this generation (if not all-time), then Larian has a lot of ground to cover. That said, if anyone can craft a game better than Baldur’s Gate 3, it’d be them. For those that played past Divinity games, they wouldn’t be shocked if Larian manages to pull it of too.

No word yet on when we can expect to see or hear more about the new Divinity game, but hopefully, Larian will be more forthcoming with info in 2026.

Once we catch more info about Divinity, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
