Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Delayed to Avoid “Intense Release Cycle.” New Release Date Set for Feb. 13, 2024
Focus Entertainment has announced that Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden has been delayed from its original release date of November 7 to February 13, 2024! This three-month delay is said to avoid the barrage of games releasing to capitalize on the holidays.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Delayed Explanation:
Here’s the joint statement from Oksar Guilbert, CEO of DON’T NOD, and John Bert, Managing Director of Focus Entertainment:
“We have decided to postpone the release of this new franchise by three months, as the market is experiencing an intense release cycle for AAA titles on PC and consoles at the end of the year. We are convinced that a commercial release of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden during a less saturated period will give it the attention it deserves.”
While I understand Focus Entertainment’s reasoning, I’m not sure February is such a good month to release a new and unproven IP either, as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Suicide Squad; Kill the Justice League, Helldivers 2 and more are set to be released in that month alone.
Aside from Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, another game that got delayed to avoid the big holiday rush is THQ Nordic’s Alone in the Dark remake, which is also looking to avoid with this holiday’s big releases like Alan Wake 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and more.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is now set to release this Feb. 13, 2024 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
