Not only that, but we have a breakdown of the Battlefield 2042 Season 5 new content.

Battlefield 2042 Season 5: New Dawn New Content Breakdown:

Release Date: June 7

Squad Management

First up is the highly anticipated Squad Management system. As outlined in the previous dev notes, players will soon be able to join specific squads and create their own while also passing up leadership to other players. DICE states that this new Squad Management system will feature a range of new features and interfaces. More details on this will be available closer to the season’s release date.

New Map – Reclaimed

“Where Battlefield of the past meets Battlefield 2042. Nearly three decades ago, the area found itself engulfed in global conflict, and the region was decimated in its wake. Now, five years on from the year 2042, war has returned to reclaim the land.”

Reclaimed is set in the wilderness of Czechia, built for combined arms warfare with six place bases. Those being:

  • A1 – Train Derailment – A crash site that features a derailed train, with the surroundings built for vehicle and medium-range infantry combat
  • B1 – Supply Drop – A landing zone with a circular layout that’s perfect for close-quarters combat. Destruction of neighboring trees will create new sight lines for intense firefights.
  • C1 – Turbine Hall – An abandoned turbine area that offers indoor space for mid to close-quarters combat. Open roofs also provide verticle crossfire.
  • C2 – Military Storage – A military warehouse that has a much tighter combat area than the other points.
  • D1 – Fortified Bunker – A bunker carved into a nearby mountainside that offers tight corridors.
  • E1 – Fuel Silos – The second vehicle layout for Reclaimed, it features winding roads in a circular layout that are perfect for tank fights, with four towers in the center of it all.

Weapons

  • XCE Bar – A high-precision bolt action rifle – Features expanded attachment capacity to accompany its stopping power
  • GEW-46 – Another assault rifle that offers high stability with short burst fire. Great for medium-range environments.
  • BFP.50 – Hand Cannon – Perfect for dishing heavy damage at close range.

Vault Weapons

The team has heard players wanting more parity across vault weapons and plans on bringing reworked versions throughout season 5 using attachments and skins from Battlefield 2042 for all vault weapons. Here are the ones coming at the start of season 5.

  • M16A3
  • ACW-R
  • A91
  • M416
  • MTAR-21
  • AEK-971

New Gadgets

  • Spring Grenade – A smaller grenade that bounced in the air before detonation.
  • AT (Anti-Tank) Grenade – Detonate on impact against vehicles.
  • Mini Grenades – Grenades that can be thrown faster and further than regular ones. The trade-off is power, but you also can carry more.

New Battle Pass

Season five brings two new factions, with the battle pass and store reflecting these factions. Tier 0 is Falck’s regenerator skin, with tier 100 being an Overthrower skin for Dozer. As always, the battle pass will feature similar offerings with XP boosters, coins, and such, though this season also introduces the new premium boosters. For those who were Year One pass holders, you’ll also be given an XP booster and an epic skin as a thank-you during the first two weeks of season 5.

Map Rework

The final reworked map is dropping later in Season 5, which is dubbed Hourglass 2.0. With this rework, Hourglass size has been reduced in order to keep the combat focused. New cover opportunities have been added along the primary routes, so expect cover-to-cover action. Remnants of combat have been scattered all over the map, as well as an increase in military presence, with new opportunities for cover through fortified positions.

The village is now a fortified military base, as well as the new starting location for Breakthrough.

Moving to the downtown area, the once pristine skyscrapers are now engulfed in flames. Bridges and arches have been overhauled and are now wartorn by all the destruction. The bridge is now collapsed with a large crater in the center, and a new underground section has been added for more combat opportunities.

The underpass is now littered with destroyed vehicles and plenty of additional coverage.

Mid Season Event and Quality of Life Improvements

Season 5 will feature a new mid-season event, though DICE plans on revealing it at a later date. However, they did reveal a few quality-of-life improvements dropping later in the season, which include updated vehicle loadout to improve their roles and characteristics, the introduction of new weapon stations, which include thermal tech, and heavy anti-air.

Sadly the only Portal news is the continuation of more weekly experiences.

There you have it; that’s everything we know coming in Battlefield 2042 Season 5 New Dawn. Stay tuned, though, as we’ll have more details about the season soon!
