Battlefield 2042 Update 2.2.0 Hidden Changes Not Listed in the Patch Notes Revealed

Battlefield 2042 Next Update 5.3.1

Just yesterday, DICE released a new patch (version 2.2.0) for Battlefield 2042 that housed a long list of improvements and changes for the game alongside new content. However, as par for the course, it seems DICE has snuck in some unannounced changes once again! Below, we have a list of the Battlefield 2042 update 2.2.0 hidden changes that has been spotted via the community!

Before diving in, note that some of the hidden changes listed might be tied to a specific platform, or it might be different based on the platform you’re on. Also, this isn’t the complete list. as more stuff are being discovered apparently.

Battlefield 2042 Update 2.2.0 Hidden Changes:

  • #1 Timer to next round in EOR screen

    New lasers

  • #2 M16A3 and some other portal BF3 guns got bunch of new underbarrel shotgun attachments. (THIS HAS BEEN IN GAME BEFORE 2.2)
  • #3 Irish’s deployable cover can no longer be clipped into walls.

  • #4 The kill message/killfeed is extremely delayed sometimes, I discovered it on Stranded so far. Idk if this a map specific issue or the kill message in general is broken.

  • #5 Restricted XP icon now has different color, was yellow, now it’s white/grey.

    AI can now jump over Irish deployable shield, which killed bot farming on solo/co-op stranded breakthrough

  • #6 I can confirm it’s been changed with the latest update! We’re now able to move and look around while the map overlay is open! (it’s in game for a some time now.)
  • #7 The green arrow on the mini map (i.e. you) is bigger than before.
  • #8 Orbital:

    Loading screen is different

    Minimap has more detail

  • #9 Portal:

    Restricted XP tag has a white background instead of yellow

    A possibility that an existing created Portal mode has a grey background with a red exanimation mark. A workaround is to log onto portal.battlefield.com and go to the mode (and do some stuff like turning on/off settings, amend server title/description, etc…) and save it again.

  • #10 There’s a visual glitch when your character is holding the acw-r on the main menu, PS5.
  • #11 Screen turns red orange when you get to 50 health, and then even redder the lower your health, kind of annoying. Hopefully they revert this. (idk if this effect was increased in this update)
  • #12 Not sure if anyone else had this happen but the two times I tried to replenish rockets from and Angel load out crate it only gave me one rocket…. Never had that happen before.
  • #13 I may be trippin’ but the minimap looks more detailed.
  • #14 1. ⁠Battlepass Point still not tracking in real time despite the fact it was stated in patchnotes that it was fixed.
    1. ⁠Not sure about this one but was flying the Hanibal stealth heli today and my guy started breathing heavily as I was flying around the map. This audio im pretty sure was not implemented before.
  • #15 You now have full maneuverability when in aircraft and opening Big Map or Scoreboard. Previously you were unable to move vertically(right thumbstick on console) when opening big map in game. Now you’re able to fully maneuver while opening it which is a GREAT addition. Especially since I play with no HUD and the big map is all I have for map Intel.
  • #16 ⁠EBLC RAM’s APS system now blocks Sundance’s Anti-Armor grenade. The 50MM cannon on transport chopper is still able to shoot through it :[
  • #17 Hacking a vehicle as Rao will now show as ‘vehicle disrupted’ instead of ‘player disrupted’ in the feed. (I might be misremembering this one, needs further verification).
  • #18 The out of bounds lines in the Stranded Breakthrough have changed.

    Specifically, the beachhead and back hills are now out-of-bounds for defenders.

  • #19 Think they broke the APS on the Ram. I found it’s not shooting down nearly as many projectiles as it used it. So many things were getting by while I had it up :/
  • #20 ships off the coast of orbital don’t just sit there and do nothing, they now lob missiles at each other (may have already been in the game, never noticed it but idk)
  • #21 They added doors that can be opened and closed to the little mobile base in the middle A1 on kaleidoscope breakthroughout.

    This is the only one I’ve been able to check. Which is why im being super specific about it. The others may or may not have had doors added to them, but i don’t want to assume without checking.
