Not only did publisher Electronic Arts managed to bring the Battlefield franchise into relevance again with the launch of Battlefield 6 last year, but it sold so well that it even managed to be the best-selling premium game in the US for 2025, and it was released in October.

With BF6 selling as it has, it translated to EA’s quarterly financials looking very healthy, as the publisher mentioned it in its latest earnings report.

According to EA’s latest earnings report, preliminary quarterly sales totaled $3 billion, up 38% year over year.

Electronic Arts has said (via BF Bulletin) that the majority of net bookings for the quarter were pushed by Battlefield 6 sales, which the publisher states has set “new franchise engagement records,” and is considered to be the best-selling shooter of 2025.

While the publisher didn’t go into specific numbers, they did confirm that Battlefield 6 exceeded expectations, which is something we rarely see these days. EA said, “Our record quarterly net bookings demonstrate the strength of our portfolio across key franchises. Battlefield 6’s landmark launch exceeded our expectations, while we continue to see momentum in both EA SPORTS FC and Apex Legends.”

This is very comforting news to Battlefield fans. While we have no doubt in our minds that the next iteration of the series is already in development, DICE and the rest of the Battlefield Studios team will have to do so without Vince Zampella, the legendary game developer that not only co-created the Call of Duty franchise, but also served as the head of the Battlefield brand. In case you didn’t know, Zampella tragically passed away in December of 2025 due to a vehicular accident.

As for Battlefield 6, we are eagerly awaiting news on Season 2, which is confirmed to drop sometime on February 17. Expect a trailer and other bits of info about it to be available a week or two before the content is released.  Thanks to a cinematic leak, we know some of the new weapons being added, and the first new map being introduced.

Hopefully, Season 2 will be the kick in the pants the game needs to reinvigorate its player base, as Season 1 saw a good chunk of players leave the game, and it’s something we talked about in-depth, which I suggest giving a read.
