Battlelog Update Allows Loadout Customization and Reveals New Weapon Attachment, No HC Mini-Map?

By now, many of you may have noticed a fancy new feature that has made its way to Battlefield 3’s Battlelog service.

Since yesterday’s update, players now have the ability to customize their loadouts in-browser and apply it to their in-game set up. Not only that, but it’s also possibly copy a friend’s loadout and apply it to your own. Additionally, it has been integrated to work between the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, according to the latest Battlelog news update. This also extends to vehicle upgrades.

Interestingly, we’ve recently noticed, as have many others, that a new attachment for the L96 sniper rifle has been spotted under ‘Accessories’. Scrolling through the various optics available to the L96, you’ll eventually come across a 20X Ballistic Scope, which currently shows up as being locked.

It could be speculated that this is to prepare for the larger maps of the upcoming Armored Kill DLC, though it seems to be limited to only the L96.

In other news, DICE lead designer Gustav Halling recently hinted at allowing players to turn off the mini-map in hardcore mode. He stated on Twitter, “just added a request to be able to disable minimap in HC mode, expect it on PC first in the upcoming server updates!”

Similarly, community manager Daniel Matros also recently hinted at allowing server admins to tweak weapon rotations in the new Gun Master game mode, introduced in Close Quarters. You can read more about what he had to say here.

Have you had a chance to try out the new Loadout feature? Are you glad the mini-map might soon be able to be toggled on and off?
