Borderlands 4 First Post-Launch DLCs Detailed; Free Endgame Update Arrives in December
It’s been exactly one month since the release of Borderlands 4, and with many having already completed it, the next question that is on their minds is: What comes next? Well, the previous roadmap announcement gave us an idea about that, but Gearbox has just revealed even more details at Pax Australia around the upcoming post-launch DLC.
Get ready, because a Halloween event is kicking things off this month, with free and paid content coming in the weeks and months to follow.
Borderlands 4 Post-Launch Content for 2025 Gets Detailed
First up on the list of drops is the free, limited-time Seasonal Mini-Event called Horrors of Kairos. It will begin on Oct 23 and run through Nov 6, during which world bosses will change the weather to terror-inducing blood rain. The following legendary rewards can be earned during the event.

- “Murmur” Legendary Tediore Assault Rifle: Executes weakened enemies with guaranteed crits on targets under 35% health
- “Skully” Legendary Order Grenade: This death-dealing grenade fires out projectiles as it seeks out the nearest target
Then, later in November, the first paid DLC, Bounty Pack 1:How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, arrives.
It’s currently scheduled to launch on November 20, with an asterisk indicating that the launch date is subject to change if any delays arise. Here’s what Gearbox has to say about Bounty Pack 1:
“Rush, the affable leader of the Outbounders, is feeling homesick and nostalgic for the holidays he’s cherished in years past. By his calculations, it’s about to be Mercenary Day, a jolly time for gift-giving and gunslinging with friends and family, and he’d like to bring that same festive cheer to the people of Kairos. But his hopes for holiday merriment stand in direct opposition to Screw, the Timekeeper’s Minister of Culture who’s charged with keeping celebrations as bland and homogenous as possible. Across a series of all-new Main Missions, you’ll show Screw the true meaning of Mercenary Day by any means necessary, and maybe score some new Legendary loot in the process.”
Owners will be able to earn 24 new collectables, with an additional four re-rollable pieces of legendary gear. Here’s a breakdown of everything.

- 4 rerollable weapons
- 4 Vault Hunter Heads usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe
- 4 Vault Hunter Skins usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe
- 5 Weapon Skins
- 5 Vehicle Skins
- 4 ECHO-4 Drone Skins
- 2 ECHO-4 Attachments
And finally, to close the year off, a free endgame update is coming in December.
A new deadly foe arrives this December, called Bloomreaper the Invincible. They are the first of many free planned endgame Invincible Bosses, which are essentially raid bosses and will have special modifiers, as well as unique legendary loot to earn.
We’ll learn more about this update as we inch closer to December, but for now, we’ll have Horrors of Kairos to look forward to, which arrives on October 23, 2025.
Borderlands 4 is now available to purchase globally, on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is scheduled to arrive at a later date. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our review of Borderlands 4 to find out why it’s one of the best games in the franchise.
