Battlefield 6 Pays Homage to Battlefield Friends via Easter Egg

My God! We’ve heard rumors of its existence, created legends around it, but never in my dreams did I ever expect to see a Bipod Knife in Battlefield 6.

Granted, you can’t actually use it, but its addition is a clear tribute to the YouTube series Battlefield Friends, and the note left by it is even more evidence.

Battlefield 6 Has a Bipod Knife That You Can’t Use, But We Wish You Could

While no doubt many of you are playing Battlefield 6 for the online multiplayer, there is a campaign mode also available to play through. Not to say it’s good, because I just rolled through the credits last night, and I think the criticisms around it are pretty spot-on. Still, that’s not to say you can’t have some fun with it, and the Battlefield Studios have also used the campaign as an opportunity to add some Easter eggs.

In the previous title,  Battlefield 2042, the studio really liked its addition of penguins in the online multiplayer, with even some cosmetics themed after them.

Eagle-eyed fans may notice some references to penguins in the campaign, though there is one specific Easter egg that players can find that’s actually a tribute to the 2012 YouTube animation series, Battlefield Friends.

In the mission, No Sleep, players are taken to a base camp at the very start, with a bunch of tents set around the area. One of these tents, located by a metal fence to the left of the main objective, has three soldiers standing in front of it. While it could be seen as a callback to a recently deceased member of Battlefield Friends (leaving only three), the classes don’t align, making it feel like a missed opportunity by the Battlefield Studios.

But moving on, inside the tent, there are beds, with one of them having a backpack with a weird-looking knife beside it. Upon further inspection, you’d notice the knife has a bipod attachment with a note reading “Promoted!” which is a clear callback to Noob screaming promoted every time he earned a rank for the dumbest stuff.

Here’s the episode for those wanting to see where it originally came from:

It’s pretty awesome to see this, as any long-time Battlefield fan could probably tell you that this series was a big part of growing up with the franchise post-Battlefield 3. We’re glad to see the studios pay their tributes to it, though this isn’t the first time they have, with even the cast appearing in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 with voicelines.

We’re sure there are plenty of other cool Easter eggs scattered around in the game, both during campaign and multiplayer, and I cannot wait to see what the community ends up finding. My fingers are crossed that there’s a Megaladon-sized Easter Egg hidden somewhere.

Battlefield 6 is now available globally on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While the game is off to a rocking start, cheaters and hackers have inflitrated the game a day after release.
