Battlefield 2042: DICE Adds “Thick44” Player Card in Memory of Battlefield Friends Recon

battlefield 2042 thick44

In February of this year, we reported that “Thick44” who voiced Recon in the hit online animated show Battlefield Friends, has passed away due to cancer. While the official Battlefield Twitter account posted a heartfelt message, DICE has taken it a step further with today’s Battlefield 2042 patch 4.2 roll out.

DICE has inserted a Thick44 playercard in the game commemorating Tony Schnur (Thick44’s real name), and it even came with a message from the dev team.

Fly High, Recon

We salute one of our friends. Recon, a member of Task Force BFF, has completed his final tour and hung up his gear.

This squad has been together since 2012. They had a unique ability to always get the job done, whether or not they understood what they were doing. His brothers, Engineer, Medic — and, yes, even the Noob — shall carry his legacy forward.

Fly High, Recon.

Here is another look at the image but without the medals cluttering it up:

The playercard shows three characters with one pointing to an MAV (a gadget for the recon class introduced in Battlefield 3).

In case you’re not familiar with Battlefield Friends, it’s an animated show that features a four-man squad playing Battlefield (or at least trying to). Regardless if you’re a Battlefield fan or not, I suggest giving it a go since it’s just that damn funny. Check out the playlist from Neebs where you can binge the bite-sized video clips.

This is definitely a winning move by DICE, which we approve wholeheartedly. Stay frosty, Thick44! If you’d like to donate to Thick44’s GoFundMe to help care for his daughters’s needs, head on over here.

Thanks, DANNYonPC!

While I do appreciate the article

I really really would have like somebody who actually either knew neebs gaming or actually knew battlefield because just the fact that you said STAY FROSTY….

Lightweight pisses me off.

Stay frosty is from call of duty.

NOT BATTLEFIELD

Mfrs out here trying their best, opening up their platform, spends company’s hours to create something that the player was passionate about and a go fund me. Frost bite team uses the term stay Frosty and it casually pisses you off. It doesn’t take much these days to piss a sensitive human off with a solid attempt for a great deed… Create a Go fund me and give the man a proper shout,@ if you have a dope platform. If not just stay frosty. Which means chill in my world. 😘

Sincerely,

Dj Marcus Lott

Fyi dice not this author created the go fund me.

And I, unlike you donated day one (and not that I care that some irrelevant random idiot online knows but you seem like you’re the one who needs to prove something so my name is the same on the GoFundMe you can look up my donation)

Oh by the way signing off your little message as a DJ is probably one of the most pathetic things I’ve ever seen.

Also if we’re going to talk about interpretations of that term my local convenience store circle k uses the term stay frosty as the slogan for their fountain sodas

But that’s not what we’re talking about are we?

1) frostbite is a gaming engine, not a developer.

2) Dice/EA/Battlefield have NEVER used the term “Stay Frosty”

The term is used by Capt Price in the COD Franchise

It is NOT a military term, it was used first in a military manner in the movie ALIENS.

3) Down voting me is pathetic, and doesn’t make you correct

Wasn’t when I was in the military.

Just because it’s something that a couple British people say doesn’t mean that it’s an overall generalized military term which it is not

Speaking from experience

Stay Frosty is literally a reference to Generation Kill’s Brad Iceman Colbert

They’ve been using Stay Frosty line for years now, and by they I mean, EA, DICE, and the Battlefield franchise.

https://twitter.com/Battlefield/status/729071983300771840

https://twitter.com/EA/status/1628568927205789699?lang=en

and a Call of Duty term it definitely is not. If you need to point an origin for it, that line came from Aliens (1984). That’s where I remember it, I’m not from the military but any time i see that term I always associate it as a call back to that movie.

Yeah, ” Stay Frosty” is a military saying that just implies to stay calm and ready in a dangerous situation. It is not just a COD saying and even was used in the 1986 movie Aliens.
