In Onslaught, Call of Duty: Ghosts’ first set of four incoming multiplayer expansions, players will get their hands on some additional firepower in the form of a highly modular weapon platform that doubles as both an assault rifle and a sniper rifle.

The Maverick, a mix of near-future technology and old-school weapon design, was granted a brief moment of stardom in the latest Onslaught DLC trailer that debuted earlier today. You can check it out right here if you missed it.

Giving fans a better look at the new rifle, Infinity Ward designer Sean Byers recently Tweeted out some of his designs of the weapon and its assault rifle and sniper rifle variations. What do you guys think?

Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught drops this Tuesday, January 28 on Xbox Live first. Along with the new Maverick weapons, Onslaught introduces four brand new multiplayer maps, including a re-imagining of the fan-favorite Scrapyard maps, as well as additional Extinction content.
