Call of Duty Universe to Receive a “New Experience” Every Few Weeks

Eric Hirshberg explained what Activision has in store for Call of Duty universe.

Speaking to Wired, Activision Publishing CEO stated that the publisher is working on “the idea of giving people constant incremental playable content.” Activsion is shooting for a constant stream of content so that “you’re never more than a few weeks away from the next new experience within the Call of Duty universe.” Eric went on to add that the series “doesn’t really behave like most franchises” because the Call of Duty franchise sees “a year-round activity for a large percentage of it player population.” This is the reason why Elite came to existence.

Eric said in regards to Elite, “the nature of this kind of service requires constant iteration”. He also teased “consumers don’t yet know they want” in terms of what’s in the pipeline for Elite “because they can’t imagine it”. Regarding DLC plans for Modern Warfare 3, Eric promised fans to expect more than what Black Ops received. He stated “we want to provide DLC to people more often and also experiment with more of a variety in the forms of playable content.”
