COD: Warzone 2.0 World Cup Game Mode Announced for Season 1 Reloaded

Call of Duty Warzone Cup

Modern Warfare 2’s Season 1 Reloaded is not the only thing CoD fans can look forward to in December. An upcoming game mode for Warzone 2.0, titled “Call of Duty: Warzone Cup,” is set for the Season 1 refresh as well. The game mode will pit players against each other in team-based gameplay, but with a surprising twist.

Free-for-all players, Warzone Cup completely switches things up as it brings Operators together for some sporting fun. Players who are skilled in vehicular combat will have the edge, as long as they have equally skilled squadmates.

Warzone Cup pits two teams of three Operators against each other at Al Easima Field, where each Operator will drive an ATV as they attempt to knock a massive soccer ball into the other team’s goal within an eight-minute time limit. The first team to five goals, or the team that gets the most goals within eight minutes wins.

A few screenshots of the game mode have also been revealed on the game’s official blog, along with a bit of info on how the game mode works.

Here’s how you’ll be able to control your character in Warzone Cup:

Unlike other Call of Duty modes, there are no Loadouts or traditional weaponry in this mode. Instead, each ATV is equipped with a pulse ability that sends a powerful burst of energy toward the ball or other ATVs. Combined with simply ramming objects with the ATV, this energy pulse can help redirect the ball toward fellow squadmates or away from your goal.

Operators also have one of two ways to disrupt their opponents:

– If an Operator rams into an enemy player at top speed, they destroy that Operator’s ATV, temporarily removing them from the pitch and forcing a respawn.

– Operators can pick up Shock Sticks around the stadium, which can be thrown at enemy ATVs to temporarily disable their movement.

While Call of Duty is a multiplayer shooter at heart, the Warzone Cup game mode should give players a nice break from the usual gameplay. Call of Duty: Warzone Cup is expected to be available when Season 1 Reloaded starts until December 23.

For the upcoming Season 1 Reloaded patch that’s coming tomorrow, we’ll be sure to keep you updated, so stay tuned.

Update: Dates have been updated to reflect that the World Cup mode is set to become playable today until December 23. Apologies for the confusion.
