Concord Was in Development for Eight Years, Devs “Ready to Push It for Years to Come”

Concord shuts down

Have you played the Concord beta when it was available last month? While the game might be coming out of nowhere, the multiplayer hero shooter has quite a long development time, as one of the devs confirmed that Concord has been in development for eight years.

This was revealed by Concord Lead Character Design dev Jon Weisnewski over on Twitter posting under the handle “sharkeatsman.”

Note that Weisnewski mentions that while the game was in development for eight years, they were only there for five years. In addition to that, Weisnewski  adds that they are “strapped in” and ready to push the game for “years to come.”

It’s honestly insane to me how long these games take to make. While it’s always easy and popular to dunk on games, let’s also appreciate the people behind them, as a ton of time and sweat has been put into each one (not just the AAA titles).

In terms of big-name game releases, much of the attention has been to GameScience’s Black Myth Wukong as it smashes one record after another. Firewalk Studio’s Concord is now out in early access, with the full release set for August 23, and we’re hoping it makes waves as well when it’s released.

Are you picking up Concord? Do you think it has a chance at carving its own audience? Leave a comment below and let us know.

How did this game take 8 years? Game devs were way more talented back in the day. Majora’s Mask took less than a year. Insane. CS was a mod, made 1 year after Half Life. Insane. No wonder gaming is dying.

Oh look we got an expert here!! “Gamers” like you are the reason this industry is dying, stfu. You clearly don’t understand how much more difficult it is nowadays to make game, especially with idiots like you waiting to clown on devs at every corner. get a life.

To be fair, Majora’s mask used 90% of premade sprites and the same engine as OOT. Most games take about 3-4 years to produce these days.

That being said, there is no way this game took 8 years unless they destroyed everything 5 years ago and decided to target the lamest types of gamers to make sure this was the most generic looking hero shooter ever.

It’s only difficult when you hire activists and diversity hires over true talent.. which the west has been doing in all businesses lately..the fools..no wonder it’s all crumbling, as our entertainment gets worse, and so stupid!

8 years!? You’ve wasted all your time and money. No one will care about the future of this crappy game. You’ll realize that the indifference of game fans is much scarier than their hatred.

8 years and probably everything good was thrown out, so they started from the ground up last year to make the most generic SBI looking characters ever.

I can’t wait for this to announce its ending support in 5 months like every other live service game.

‘He’, not ‘they’. I suggest you change your tagline to ‘writer of noobs, killer of words’.
