Cyberpunk 2077 Gets a New Game Director in Gabriel Amatangelo

Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red has elected a new lead to helm their latest game in flux that is Cyberpunk 2077, as Adam Badowski steps down and a the game gets a new game director in Gabriel Amatangelo effective immediately.

According to a new report Badowski has left his position to focus on other projects. Amatangelo, who was already creative director with the Cyberpunk team, was promoted to the lead position and will oversee everything that has to do with the game and its updates.

Amatangelo will be tasked with leading development on CD Projekt’s upcoming expansions, which are currently in development. CD Projekt is also actively working on improving Cyberpunk 2077, even as modders are taking matters into their own hands.

Amatangelo was previously Cyberpunk 2077’s creative director, where he was tasked with bringing the game’s multiplayer to life. A BioWare veteran, Amatangelo worked on Star Wars: The Old Republic as a PvP designer and Dragon Quest: Inquisition DLC.

After a very controversial release that led to questions, lawsuits, and refunds, Cyberpunk 2077 has been struggling to fix its numerous technical issues and problems — especially the last-gen releases for the PS4 and Xbox One which were not on par with what CD Projekt Red presented when they were promoting the game. New updates addressing these problems have slowly been rolled out, with the recent update 1.22 released nearly a month ago for glitch fixes and GPU performance.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out for PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC.
